Blues Festival Assen 2022

Op zaterdag 8 oktober vindt het New Blues Festival weer plaats in De Bonte Wever!
Het festival wordt voor de zesde keer georganiseerd en heeft inmiddels een mooie status verworven onder de liefhebbers van kwaliteitsmuziek. De line-up is rond en met Bernard Allison, Mell & Vintage Future, Blues Caravan 2022 en Jon Amor’s King Street Turnaround staat er weer een mooi gevarieerd programma!

Het New Blues Festival Assen is een gezellig evenement waarmee we jaarlijks op zoek gaan naar een mooie selectie artiesten uit binnen- en buitenland. Een plek waar bluesliefhebbers elkaar ontmoeten in een gemoedelijke sfeer en waar je je hart op kan halen als het gaat om het (verder) ontdekken van de Blues. De line-up geeft dan ook volop ruimte om nieuwe muziek te proeven, aangevuld met acts die al wat langer meedraaien.

Naast de fantastische muziek is het ook mogelijk om te genieten van lekker eten, een goede whisky of een lekker speciaal bier op ons speciale horecaplein....................►

Recorded live on September 15, 1981, Live At Gilley’s captures Kris Kristofferson at a time in his career where he and his band were firing on all cylinders. Kristofferson was with a full band out on the road that featured Stephen Bruton, Donnie Fritts and Billy Swan. On this night, the band stopped by Gilley’s Honkytonk in Pasadena, Texas to deliver a once in a lifetime performance featuring the hits, “Me And Bobby McGee”, “The Pilgrim” and “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down.”

Hij is een graag geziene gast in onze contreien, deze John Primer. Regelmatig doet hij ons land aan tijdens Europese tournees en speelt dan op festivals of in theaters. Primer wordt geboren op 5 maart 1945 in Camden, Mississippi. Op zijn achttiende verhuist hij naar Chicago, waar hij onder meer te horen is op de legendarische Maxwell Street Market. Langzaam aan verplaatst zijn werkgebied zich naar de clubs en wordt hij een veelgevraagd begeleider van artiesten als Magic Slim, James Cotton en Magic Sam. In 1991 verschijnt zijn eerste eigen album. Ruim dertig jaar later is John Primer een naam, waar men in de Chicagoblues niet omheen kan.

They now proudly present the results of these sessions with their new album Detonized consisting of ten original explosive compositions by the band.
