It is now 19 years ago since label founder Thomas Ruf first sent three musicians under contract to his record company on a joint tour as Blues Caravan: Sue Foley, Candye Kane and Ana Popovic. For the 2024 edition of this package tour, this job fell to Katarina Pejak, Eric Johanson and label newcomer Alastair Greene, who, as in previous years, were also supported by a two-piece rhythm section. |

Blues Festival Assen 2022
Op zaterdag 8 oktober vindt het New Blues Festival weer plaats in De Bonte Wever!
Het festival wordt voor de zesde keer georganiseerd en heeft inmiddels een mooie status verworven onder de liefhebbers van kwaliteitsmuziek. De line-up is rond en met Bernard Allison, Mell & Vintage Future, Blues Caravan 2022 en Jon Amor’s King Street Turnaround staat er weer een mooi gevarieerd programma!
Het New Blues Festival Assen is een gezellig evenement waarmee we jaarlijks op zoek gaan naar een mooie selectie artiesten uit binnen- en buitenland. Een plek waar bluesliefhebbers elkaar ontmoeten in een gemoedelijke sfeer en waar je je hart op kan halen als het gaat om het (verder) ontdekken van de Blues. De line-up geeft dan ook volop ruimte om nieuwe muziek te proeven, aangevuld met acts die al wat langer meedraaien.
Naast de fantastische muziek is het ook mogelijk om te genieten van lekker eten, een goede whisky of een lekker speciaal bier op ons speciale horecaplein....................►

Sixteen years since Ruf Records first had the brainwave of a showcase tour, the Blues Caravan concept remains unchanged and unbeaten. Three rising stars from the roster of Europe’s most respected boutique record label. Three live sets that run the gamut of emotion and genre. And as the finale each night, the mother of all live jams, with all three performers cutting loose together – and inviting the audience to do the same.

Fifteen years after Europe’s most respected label put on its first showcase tour, the founding concept is instantly familiar to blues fans: every night, on club stages across the US and Europe, three rising talents will burn down the house and kick the blues into the modern age. But there’s a twist. With the lineup chosen each year from the cream of the Ruf roster, every Caravan has a fresh vibe, a fizzing chemistry and plenty of flying sparks. And with three wildly different artists running the gamut of styles in 2020, all bets could have been off.
