Alligator Records Artists Receive 27 Blues Music Award Nominations  On Friday, January 24, 2025, the Blues Foundation announced the nominees for the 46th Annual Blues Music Awards. Alligator Records artists received an astounding 27 nominations. Leading all artists with six nominations is Rick Estrin & The Nightcats. Nominations include the coveted awards for Band Of The Year, Album Of The Year (for The Hits Keep Coming) and, for Estrin, the B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year. Tommy Castro zal weinig introductie behoeven in de bluesscene. De in 1955 in San Jose, California geboren bluesman heeft er al een flinke carriere opzitten, grossiert in Blues Awards en maakte o.a. albums voor Telarc en Blind Pig voordat hij in 2009 bij Alligator Records tekende. Het vorig jaar verschenen album “A Bluesman Came To Town” is inmiddels zijn zevende album voor het label dat als een van de meest gerenommeerde blueslabels ter wereld mag worden gezien.

In september komt Tommy Castro met zijn band The Painkillers naar de Benelux.

 De uit San Jose, Californië afkomstige Tommy Castro is in zijn decennialange carrière een vaste waarde geworden in het internationale bluescircuit. Na jarenlang in allerlei bands te hebben opgetreden kwam in 1994 zijn debuutalbum uit. Inmiddels zijn we een kleine dertig jaar en zestien cd’s verder en blijft de 66-jarige druk bezig.
