Een “bloody good” debuutalbum! Dat is een zeer adekwate omschrijving van het debuutalbum van zanger-gitarist Emanuel Casablanca uit Brooklyn. En dat is niet vanwege het feit dat er bloed voorkomt in vrijwel elke songtitel op dit album maar meer omdat we hier te maken hebben met een zeer apart album in het bluesrock genre. Apart omdat het album gedompeld is in een schrapend fuzzend geluid.

Ik volg Eric Gales al vanaf het prille begin toen hij in de jaren negentig als 18-jarige debuteerde met het trio The Eric Gales Band. Ik zou de waarheid geweld aandoen als ik hier zou beweren dat ik al zijn 18 albums tot me heb laten komen; in ieder geval heb ik er genoeg gehoord om Gales als een van mijn favoriete bluesrockers aan te merken.

- Eric Gales has rescheduled his 2021 UK tour to February 2022. The tour follows the release of his album ‘The Bookends’ via Provogue/Mascot Label Group in 2019. The album features collaborations with B. Slade, Doyle Bramhall II and Beth Hart.
