The Kendall Connection – Blood & Water (EP) Geschreven door: Eric Campfens i.s.m. BarnOwlBlues | FB Eric Campfens  Het heeft een paar jaar geduurd en nu is de opvolger van het debuutalbum uit 2020 uiteindelijk verschenen. The Kendall Connection is een Britse band, die is gevormd rond de in Zuid-Afrika geboren zanger en gitarist Nick Kendall. De band werd opgericht in 2016 en bestaat verder uit Steve Holness (toetsen), Greg Hagger (bas) en Tom Clare (drums). In 2017 verscheen een eerste single van hen en in 2020 kwam het al genoemde debuutalbum op de markt met de eenvoudige titel “The Kendall Connection”

En nu is dan eindelijk de opvolger verschenen, de EP “Blood & Water”. Hierop staan vijf nummers, die in maart van dit jaar door de band zijn geschreven en opgenomen. Muzikaal bevindt het geheel zich ergens tussen stuwende poprock en vlotte bluesrock, waarbij uitstapjes naar ballads en funk niet worden geschuwd. Hagger en Clare zorgen met hun bas en drums voor een stevig en ook swingend fundament, waarop Holness en Kendall hun kunsten kunnen vertonen. De titel “Blood & Water” is representatief voor de intentie van het album. De eerste vier nummers gaan over de balans tussen goed en kwaad, teleurstelling en hoop, gewoonte en spanning. Het laatste nummer “Oil Stained Hands” is een eerbetoon aan de in januari overleden meestergitarist / hotrod-sleutelaar Jeff Beck. Ook met hun tweede album laat The Kendall Connection horen flink wat in huis te hebben. Het blijken blijvertjes te zijn.

It took a few years and now the successor to the 2020 debut album has finally been released. The Kendall Connection is a British band formed around South African-born singer and guitarist Nick Kendall. The band was founded in 2016 and consists of Steve Holness (keyboards), Greg Hagger (bass) and Tom Clare (drums). Their first single was released in 2017 and in 2020 the aforementioned debut album was released with the simple title “The Kendall Connection”.

And now the successor has finally been released, the EP “Blood & Water”. This record contains five songs, which were written and recorded by the band in March this year. Musically, the whole lies somewhere between driving pop rock and smooth blues rock, where excursions into ballads and funk are not avoided. With their bass and drums, Hagger and Clare provide a solid and swinging foundation on which Holness and Kendall can show their skills. The title “Blood & Water” is representative of the album's intention. The first four songs are about the balance between good and evil, disappointment and hope, habit and tension. The last song “Oil Stained Hands” is a tribute to master guitarist / hot rod fan Jeff Beck, who passed away in January. With their second album The Kendall Connection again shows that they have a lot to offer. They appear to be keepers.
