You could call Ivy Gold an international band. Well,  with members from Europe, the US and Great Britain. The band is built around singer Manou and guitarist Sebastian Eder, who had already prepared most of the songs together. Manou provided the lyrics and Eder the music, and he took care of the production and is also the manager of it all. In addition to them, drummer Tal Bergman, bassist Kevin Moore and keyboardist Anders Olinder complete the group, all of whom have already earned their musical spurs. Eder played in the hard rock formation Avalon, Bergman has played with Joe Bonamassa, Joe Zawinul, B.B.King, Roger Daltrey to name a few, Moore has accompanied Jennifer Rush and the Persuaders among others, and Olinders was especially recommended by Sari Scorr.

The first album, entitled “Six Dusty Winds”, contains ten self-written songs. Usually Eder came up with some melodies or licks and Manou supplemented this with her lyrics, which highlighted issues such as personal experiences, beliefs, problems and hope. This resulted in ten very well constructed and performed songs. The band provides a solid foundation on which Manou, Eder and Olinder can build the rest. Musically we are clearly in the heavy blues rock, and then of the melodic kind. And this is evident right from the start with the opener “Face Of Deceit”. Manou has a voice that lends itself perfectly to the genre: raw with the necessary fraying. She must be careful not to force it, as in the song “Retribution”. Then it leads to too much screaming. Songs that deserve a special mention in my opinion are “Suspicion” and the beautiful “Shine On”. Great CD, an absolute must for fans of solid blues rock.
