This week we celebrate the birthday of the man who started it all, the king of Genuine Houserockin ' Music and the artist who inspired the creation of Alligator Records. Theodore Roosevelt "Hound Dog" Taylor was born on April 12, 1915 in Natchez, Mississippi. He came to Chicago in 1942, worked in a factory and began playing on the weekends at the outdoor Maxwell Street Market. With  a steel slide on the fifth of his six fingers (true), playing a super-cheap guitar through a dilapidated amp, and accompanied by only a second guitar and drums.

Museum wegens ombouw tijdelijk gesloten Voor inrichting van nieuwe expositie rond de bluesformatie Cuby Museum twee weken dicht Het C+B Museum in Grolloo is vanaf maandag 17 april tot zaterdag 29 april gesloten. In die periode wordt in het museum de nieuwe expositie “Legacy Leeft” opgebouwd, die op zaterdag 29 april officieel wordt geopend. Door alle werkzaamheden is het museum gedurende twee weken niet toegankelijk voor bezoekers.

Allereerst op donderdag mogen we Jerry Leger begroeten, een veelzijdige singer-songwriter en gevestigde naam uit Canada. Op zaterdag komt Marlien Dorleijn, ook geen onbekende in muziekland (o.a. frontman van Moss). En dan zetten de mannen van Tangarine zondag de kroon op dit weekend met een dubbelconcert. Zorg dat je erbij bent!

GEEN BLUESROCK FESTIVAL IN 2023

Helaas heeft de organisatie moeten besluiten om dit jaar geen Bluesrock Festival in Tegelen te organiseren. De huidige omstandigheden maken het niet haalbaar om een waardig festival te organiseren. Maar we komen terug in 2024!

In 2023 zal er geen Bluesrock Festival in het Limburgse Tegelen plaatsvinden. Dat maakt Jan Smeets, voormalig directeur van Pinkpop, vandaag bekend.

Exciting news, we’re on the road again! The next part of the UK and European tour kicks off tomorrow with a SOLD-OUT show at the Temperance in Leamington Spa, then Saturday we’re off to Bristol and Sunday in Cheltenham before taking our voodoo vaudeville blues across the seas to Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands for thirteen more shows. Er is verder muziek met een link naar Bluesmagazine (releases, recensies, concert reviews) en daarna is de keuze gigantisch.  De playlist is voor de luisteraar, naast het lezen van Bluesmagazine en andere Blues websites, een manier om nieuwe artiesten en hun muziek te leren kennen. Samenstelling: Jos Verhagen Deze week weer tal van tips binnengekregen maar het mogen er altijd meer zijn. Tussen de tips weer verrassingen van blues artiesten die ik uit het oog verloren was zoals Michael Katon, en een lieve mail die ik kreeg op de special Blues Protest Songs van Februari 2022 om aandacht te vragen voor Jake Andrews.
