Een heerlijke rockschijf

Net in de week dat Rolling Stones-drummer Charlie Watts de ‘oversteek’ maakte, kreeg ik dit album van Dennis DeYoung ter recensie aangeboden. Vanwaar die associatie ? De Amerikaanse muzikant maakte een tijd terug bekend dat hij een punt ging zetten achter zijn carrière als studioartiest. Een loopbaan die een imposant cv opleverde als sterkhouder binnen rockband Styx, zowel als compositorische kracht als oprichter/zanger/toetsenist, maar ook enkele sterke soloplaten tot gevolg had.

Het zijn fijne tijden voor liefhebbers van de Amerikaanse band Styx: hun voormalige zanger Dennis DeYoung bracht op de valreep van 2020 zijn geweldige album ’26 East, vol.1’ uit (zie recensie), waarvan volume 2 elk moment in de winkel zal liggen......

Amerikaanse iconen STYX zijn terug met een nieuw album: "Crash Of The Crown" wordt uitgebracht op 18 juni 2021 ++ titelsingle & nu pre-orders!

Vier jaar na de gevierde voorganger "The Mission" zal STYX op 18 juni hun nieuwe album "Crash Of The Crown" op cd uitbrengen, de LP op 25 juni. Geschreven vóór het uitbreken van de pandemie en opgenomen onder moeilijke omstandigheden, zijn de Amerikaanse rockiconen bezorgd over hoop, om door te gaan met een nieuw begin na de "ineenstorting van de kroon".

De Amerikaanse zanger Dennis DeYoung als zanger van de band Styx wist hij in de jaren 70 en 80 hits te scoren, ‘Babe’ s,  'The Boat on the River’, ‘Grand Illusion’, ‘Mr Roboto’ en het rock classic album ‘Paradise Theatre’ dat waren de pareltjes van deze frontman van Styx.

Voor het eerst in veertien jaar brengen de arenarockers van Styx een album met nieuw materiaal uit,het zestiende uit hun carriere.
Styx doet ook dit keer weer van zich horen met het vertroude geluid wat men ook gewend was  en de single Gone Gone Gone heeft hit potentie.
