 Van stilzitten kun je Niecie niet beschuldigen. Geboren in Detroit verhuisde zij achtereenvolgens naar Chicago, Las Vegas, Boston en Memphis om nu uiteindelijk in Nashville te landen. Een toevallige ontmoeting met Magic Slim, die haar met een rockband had horen zingen, deed haar besluiten zich op de blues te gaan concentreren. In de loop van haar ruim 25-jarige carrière toerde ze door de Amerika, Australië en Europa en deelde ze het podium met mensen als Koko Taylor, Magic Slim en Larry McCray.
