BLUES ICON CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE RECEIVES 2022 FRENCH CHARLES CROS ACADEMY GRAND PRIX BLUES AWARD On December 15, 2022, blues icon Charlie Musselwhite was honored with the coveted Charles Cros Academy Grand Prix Blues Award for his Grammy Award-nominated Alligator Records album, Mississippi Son. The Grand Prix Awards for Jazz, Blues and Soul Favorites were announced on France Musique (French national radio) on Alex Dutilh's Open Jazz show. Our album, Scream, Holler & Howl, is on the ballot for consideration for a Grammy nomination in Best Traditional Blues Album. We had watched the documentary, RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World, at the beginning of the pandemic and we were so inspired by this film and the powerful influence Indigenous culture has had on Blues music.
Scream, Holler & Howl came out last month on September 9th and we just found out that it is on the ballot round for consideration.

Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, 23, the rising-star blues guitarist, songwriter and vocalist from Clarksdale, Mississippi, won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album for his sophomore release, 662. The award, Ingram’s first-ever Grammy, was presented at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, April 3. Ingram’s debut album, 2019’s Kingfish, had previously received a Grammy Award nomination.

BLOODSTAINS & TEARDROPS, from Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, has been nominated for a GRAMMY Award by the Recording Academy for "Best Regional Roots Music Album". The record was released May 21, 2021 on Tab Benoit’s Whiskey Bayou Records and produced by Tab Benoit and Rueben Williams.
Boudreaux is the oldest living Mardi Gras Indian Chief, the elder of elders in a tradition dating back to the 1880s. He is a cultural hero, recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Award, and a well-loved American musical legend. His vast discography includes many records with the Golden Eagles, collaborations with Anders Osborne, Galactic, John Gros and 101 Runners.

Announces New Solo Album ‘Always’
On “Silence,” the new single from songwriter-producer Eric Krasno’s forthcoming solo album ‘Always’ (2/4, Mascot Label Group), Krasno explores the emotional havoc that a lack of communication can wreak on the human psyche. “Silence is a song I wrote a number of years ago about the torture of not knowing,” he explains. “I sing about how the silent treatment can make your mind spiral into the darkest place where you assume the worst situation is inevitable. This was the first track I worked on with Otis McDonald for the album. The original track I sent him had just acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals. As we built the track, I think it set the tone and feel for the album as a whole.”
