It was sometime during the summer of 2022 when Jan, Patrick and producer Koenraad got together at Studio Jupiter, in Tongeren (BE), to record the first demos for the new album. Koenraad played some random drum sample and Patrick started grooving with his catchy bass riff. During the following rehearsals, we tried to build a song around that idea but eventually, we stripped it down to the basic riff again. We decided to just let it groove. With a pumping harmonica, some funky cowbells and a dirty guitar. A few weeks later, Jan wrote the lyrics during a bus ride and that's how the rough idea developed into a kind of dance song with a ZZ Top vibe
Neon Skies & Different Highs" is the fifth album by Belgium's alternative blues rock band Boogie Beasts. According to the members, it's their most eclectic one yet. Once again, the Beasts translate their deep love for raw blues into a sound of their own, only this time additionally inspired by gospel, soul, desert blues & rock, rhythm & blues, psychedelia and even a touch of hip-hop. The band also assigned a bigger role to producer Koenraad Foesters, who's practically acting as a fifth band member. The result is a very groovy record full of passion and emotion, and with a very contemporary sound.
BIO
Dirty beats, hypnotising slide, screaming harmonica riffs and plenty of fuzz: all of these will be served by this four-men band from Liège-Limburg-Namur, Belgium.
Boogie Beasts translate their passion for (hill country) blues into a most characteristic sound of their own, which has a touch of The Black Keys jamming with John Lee Hooker at a rave in the wee hours of the morning, or Morphine on a psychedelic trip with Little Walter, or even RL Burnside backed up by the young Rolling Stones at a juke joint-gig.
The drive is infectious, the noise is pure filth, yet highly irresistible…
Are you ready to boogie with the Beasts?
