Afkomstig uit Sassari op Sardinië heeft zangeres ook internationaal behoorlijk naam weten te maken. Deze krachtige zangeres, die zang studeerde aan de Vocal Power Academy in Los Angeles heeft samengewerkt met artiesten als Buddy Guy, Zucchero, Derek Wilson en vele anderen. Hoewel blues haar voorkeur heeft is zij een veelzijdig zangeres, die net zo makkelijk wisselt naar rock, jazz en r&b. Ze is mede-oprichter van de Birdland Jazz Club in haar geboorteplaats. In 2019 verscheen Eva’s eerste album “Italia Square”.

 En nu is haar twee album “Smoke And Mirrors” verschenen met daarop twaalf nummers, die door Andy Littlewood zijn geschreven, waarvan een samen met Eva. Littlewood speelt ook gitaar, toetsen en bas en had ook de productie in handen. Verder horen we Pete Nelson (drums), en verdelen Mick Simpson (gitaar) op wiens albums zij eerder mee deed, Giovanni Bruno (gitaar), Andrius Lindsell (gitaar), Dave Hunt (harmonica) en Vincent Rossi (piano) op enkele nummers. Het album is een mix van blues, rock, jazz en soul. Het eerste nummer “Building A Wall” is meteen een stevige blues, dat wordt opgevolgd oor het titelnummer “Smoke And Mirrors”, waarin de zang wat jazzier is. Zo nemen Carboni en band de luisteraar mee door een scala aan stijlen. Het geheel blijft interessant en boeiend en verveelt nergens. Nummers die wat mij betreft een speciale vermelding verdienen zijn de slowblues “Call My Name” met prachtige invulling door de gitaar van Mick Simpson, de countryblues “Bad Blood” en de blues “Another Door Closes”. Prima album.

Littlewood also plays guitar, keys and bass and also handled production. We also hear Pete Nelson (drums), and Mick Simpson (guitar) on whose albums she previously participated, Giovanni Bruno (guitar), Andrius Lindsell (guitar), Dave Hunt (harmonica) and Vincent Rossi (piano) on some songs . The album is a mix of blues, rock, jazz and soul. Songs that deserve a special mention in my opinion are the slow blues “Call My Name” with beautiful interpretation by the guitar of Mick Simpson, the country blues “Bad Blood” and the blues song “Another Door Closes”. Great album.
