George Gritzbach is een zeer ervaren blueszanger en –gitarist, afkomstig uit Waquoit, Massachusetts. Met zijn band heeft hij in het voorprogramma gespeeld van artiesten als B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray om er maar een paar te noemen. Zijn muziek heeft hen door heel de VS, Canada en Europa gebracht. De band bestaat uit Scott Lariviere (bas), Christian McCarthy (drums), Johnny Menezes (toetsen) en Peter Murry (saxofoon).
Met “Full Circle” heeft Gritzbach zijn zesde album uitgebracht met daarop tien eigen nummers. Naast de al genoemde leden is ook nog Jerry Portnoy op mondharmonica te horen. Wat stijl betreft zit de band ergens tussen blues, soul en rock. Wat wel meteen duidelijk blijkt is dat Gritzbach een prima componist is, die ook teksten van bovengemiddelde kwaliteit schrijft. Luister maar eens naar nummers “One Race Many Faces”, “Sweet Misery” en de swampblues “Black Rose”. Andere nummers die wat mij betreft een bijzondere vermelding verdienen zijn het swingende “Roots Rhythm And Blues”, en “Burning At Both Ends” met Jerry Portnoy, waarin hij vertelt over de keuzes tussen zijn gezinsleven en zijn vriendin. Een heerlijke cd.

George Gritzbach is a highly experienced blues singer and guitarist from Waquoit, Massachusetts. With his band he has supported artists such as B.B. With “Full Circle” Gritzbach has released his sixth album with ten songs of his own. In addition to the aforementioned members, Jerry Portnoy can also be heard on harmonica. In terms of style, the band is somewhere between blues, soul and rock. What is immediately apparent is that Gritzbach is a fine composer, who also writes texts of above-average quality. Just listen to songs “One Race Many Faces”, “Sweet Misery” and the swamp blues “Black Rose”. Other songs that deserve a special mention in my opinion are the swinging “Rotts Rhythm And Blues”, and “Burning At Both Ends” with Jerry Portnoy, in which he talks about the choices between his family life and his girlfriend. A wonderful CD.
