Jim Keller’s mix of industrial blues and industrial menace, ”Don’t Get Me Started,” could turn out to be the definitive song for the pandemic. Keller first got attention years ago when, as part of San Francisco group Tommy Tutone, he co-wrote and performed “867-5309” (“Jenny Jenny”), a classic power pop tune that made 80’s radio so listenable.

“Spark & Flame”, de eerste single, tevens titeltrack van het op 11 november a.s. via Continental Song City te verschijnen nieuwe album van Jim Keller. Keller is al meer dan 40 jaar op allerlei fronten actief is in de muziekindustrie. 

Hij werkte o.a. als componist, als manager van Philip Glass, runt diens publishing company maar is bovenal een prima songschrijver en muzikant.

Jim Keller valt niet specifiek onder de noemers (alt)country of folk, maar om de aanduiding NOIR zoals wel eens bij die genres wordt gebruikt aan de muziek van deze bluesy singer/songwriter te hangen zou zeer passend zijn. Keller is geen nieuweling in de muziekscene. In de jaren tachtig was hij schrijver en frontman van de pop band Tommy Tutone, die met name in Amerika een grote hit hadden met “867-5309 Jenny”.  Daarna bleef Keller lange tijd op de achtergrond als actief muzikant, maar was hij werkzaam als manager en uitgever van o.a. minimal music componist Philip Glass.

Jim Keller has been going though a very interesting musical career. While By No Means is his fourth solo album, Keller’s musical career stretches back to 1978 when he co-founded the band, Tommy Tutone, and co-wrote their hit, “867-5309/Jenny.” In the mid 1990s, Keller shifted gears and started working for Philip Glass, first running his publishing company and later becoming Glass’ manager.
