FINALE DUTCH BLUES CHALLENGE 2018

Op zondag 7 oktober 2018 organiseert de Dutch Blues Foundation in Hotel De Rustende Jager in Nieuw-Vennep de finale van de Dutch Blues Challenge 2018.
Zeven bands en één duo gaan de uitdaging aan om binnen twintig minuten te laten zien en horen waarom zij op een internationaal podium thuis horen. Een onafhankelijke jury beoordeelt de acts en bepaalt wie Nederland mag vertegenwoordigen in Memphis tijdens de Internationale Blues Challenge eind januari 2019  en bij de European Blues Challenge in april 2019 op de Azoren.

Concert: Joanna Connor op HIBluesfestival Grolloo 2018

De plaats waar zangeres, componiste en gitaarwonder Joanna Connor opgroeide, Worcester, Massachusetts, staat niet bepaald bekend als een blues-hotspot. Toch was het daar dat ze de muziek ontdekte. Haar moeder was daarbij van grote invloed: zij luisterde naar blues, folk en rock, waardoor Joanna de muziek van Buddy Guy en Taj Mahal met de paplepel kreeg ingegoten. Toen ze wat ouder was, ontdekte ze steeds meer artiesten, ook de meer obscure.
