Hoewel de band al zo’n jaar of dertig meedraait in het blueswereldje heeft het in die tijd slechts vier albums uitgebracht. Prima albums, daar niet van, dus men zou kunnen denken dat de band kwaliteit boven kwantiteit stelt. De waarheid is wat ernstiger, bandleider Jetton heeft jarenlang te kampen gehad met een drugs- en alcoholverslaving; een strijd die hij gelukkig heeft gewonnen. Om het dertigjarig jubileum van de band te vieren is het nieuwe album “Deja Hoodoo” opgenomen. De titel is goed gekozen, deze ‘hoodoo’ is reeds (‘deja’) eerder uitgebracht.

 Voor het album heeft men teruggegrepen op eerder door de band opgenomen materiaal. Deze nummers zijn ooit door Jetton geschreven en nu opnieuw opgenomen in het Paradise Studio and Coffee Street Studio in Paducah, Kentucky, en daarna geremasterd bij Highland House Productions in Jackson, Tennessee. De band bestaat naast Lew Jetton (zang, gitaar) uit Sam Moore (gitaar, zang), Dan Bell (toetsen, gitaar, bas), Eric Eicholtz (drums) en Greg Walker (bas). Daarnaast doen nog een aantal gastmuzikanten mee, waaronder mondharmonicablazer J.D. Wilkes. Wat geboden wordt is typische muziek uit de zuidelijke staten: blues, southern rock e.d. Het album opent met de bluesrocker “Two Lane Road” en meandert tussen blues en rock over de hele cd. Nummers die een speciale vermelding verdienen zijn de bluestracks ”Homegrown Tomato”, “Betcha” en “Move On, Yvonne” met prima harmonicawerk van Wilkes en de ballad “Nighttime Into Day” en de slowblues “Drinking Again”. Leuke plaat, maar ik zou graag weer eens iets nieuws horen.

The truth is more serious, bandleader Jetton has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for years; a battle he happily won. To celebrate the band's thirtieth anniversary, the new album “Deja Hoodoo” has been recorded. The title is well chosen, this 'hoodoo' has already been released ('deja').

For the album they went back to material previously recorded by the band. These songs were once written by Jetton and have now been re-recorded at the Paradise Studio and Coffee Street Studio in Paducah, Kentucky, and then remastered at Highland House Productions in Jackson, Tennessee.
