Na zijn debuutalbum in 2002 heeft Kenneth Brian een loyale fanschare weten op te bouwen door zijn sterke capaciteiten als schrijver van fraaie teksten, die hij verpakt in een jasje van Southern Rock-, blues- en moderne countrymuziek. Hij is geboren in Virginia, groeide op in Florida en ontwikkelde zich muzikaal in Alabama. Brian deelde het podium met mensen als Steve Winwood, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd en Rufus Wainwright om er maar een paar te noemen.

Voor de pre-productie van zijn nieuwste album “The Keys To The Kingdom” heeft hij de hulp ingeroepen van producer Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty, Average White Band) en Mike Campbell (gitarist bij Tom Petty). De opnamen vonden plaats in de studio’s van Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, Californië en werden geleid door Jeremy Stevens.  Kenneth Brian wordt op het album begeleid door drummer Chris Cano en bassist Brandon Owens. Op het album staan tien zelfgeschreven nummers, die zich allemaal bewegen binnen het hierboven al genoemde muzikale gebied. Vlotte en langzame nummers wisselen elkaar af en houden het geheel interessant. Nummers die wat mij betreft een speciale vermelding verdienen zijn het vlotte “She Is The Night”, het slepende “California” en de mooie slowblues “Hard Heart”. Een prima plaat.

 Since his debut album in 2002, Kenneth Brian has built up a loyal fan base through his strong abilities as a writer of beautiful lyrics, which he wraps in Southern rock, blues and modern country music. He was born in Virginia, grew up in Florida and developed musically in Alabama. Brian shared the stage with the likes of Steve Winwood, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Rufus Wainwright to name a few.

For the pre-production of his latest album “The Keys To The Kingdom” he has enlisted the help of producer Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty, Average White Band) and Mike Campbell (guitarist with Tom Petty). Recording took place at the Rancho de la Luna studios in Joshua Tree, California and was directed by Jeremy Stevens. Kenneth Brian is accompanied on the album by drummer Chris Cano and bassist Brandon Owens. The album contains ten self-written songs, all of which move within the musical area mentioned above. Uptempo and slow songs alternate and keep the whole interesting. Songs that deserve a special mention in my opinion are the smooth “She Is The Night”, the lingering “California” and the beautiful slow blues “Hard Heart”. A fine record.
