Portland-based all female Americana group, Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters will release Good Morning Sunshine on April 4th, 2025 (Blackbird Record Label).
The All-Female Band Aims For Joy And Connection With Music Fans Via Their Energized Live Show And Ability To âShred As Well As The Boys Do.â
West Coast-based Americana rock nâ roll band Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters are thrilled to announce the release of their second album, Good Morning, Sunshine, set to drop on April 4, 2025 on Blackbird Record Label. The all-female ensemble is gearing up to take their latest collection of vibrant, genre-blurring songs on tour, bringing their celebrated live energy to stages across the country
Good Morning, Sunshine was produced by Nancy Luca, the bandâs talented guitarist, with engineering by Katie Sawicki and Ricky Wilkins, and mastering by John Neufeld. Most of the album was recorded at The Map Room in Portland, Oregon, with additional sessions at Flynnâs home studio. Reflecting on the process, Flynn shares, âNancy brought joy to producing and channeled the spirit of her musical ancestors, like Tom Petty and Bo Diddley.â
Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters describe their sound as ârock and roll with twang,â a dynamic fusion that reflects Flynnâs upbringing in Kentucky and Virginia, where she was steeped in bluegrass, Motown, and rock. From the opening riff of âDrunk in Ojai,â a playful tale of a night gone wrong, to reflective tracks like âLove is an Ember,â the album showcases the bandâs knack for blending heartfelt storytelling with toe-tapping melodies.
Other highlights include; âGood Morning, Sunshineâa song inspired by a breathtaking sunrise in the Columbia River Gorge, which explores self-discovery and healing. âTilly Jane Ridgeâwas written during a hike through a forest recovering from the Gnarl Ridge fire, and itâs a poignant ode to resilience. âShake the Strangerâ is a heartfelt cover and tribute to queer country pioneer Patrick Haggerty of Lavender Country, who was a dear friend to the band.
The Riveters, founded by Flynn and Luca in 2017, aim to elevate women in music by creating a space for collaboration and celebration of female artistry. They also use their music to inspire hope and raise awareness about the challenges faced by women, LGBTQ+ communities, marginalized groups, and the natural world in todayâs deeply divided social and political landscape.
The Riveters featured on the album includeAshleigh Flynn (lead vocal, acoustic guitar), Nancy Luca (electric guitar), and a revolving group of mostly female-identified players including Carmen Paradise (bass), Leila Chieko (drums), Jenny Conlee (piano & organ), Kathryn Claire (violin, harmony vocals), Kat Fountain (vocals and harmonica) and more.
Itâs been a year of milestones for the band. Highlights included hosting a monthly residency at Portlandâs iconic Laurelthirst Pub, performing at festivals along the West Coast, and opening for Willie Nelson at the Britt Festival, where Flynn had the honor of singing alongside the legend.
While Good Morning, Sunshine is infused with joy and dynamism, it also carries a message of hope and resilience. The Riveters aim to uplift marginalized voices and foster connection in an often divisive world. As Flynn notes, âWe summon our courage to bring joy. Our music is about letting go of fear and celebrating love in all its forms.â
Join Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters on their journey to inspire joy, resilience, and connection through music.
