Van het funky “If You Want Me To Stay” (Sly Stone), soulvolle “One More Hreatache” (Marvin Gaye) tot het jazzy “Dreamland” (Jaco Pastorius / Michel Colombier) en het onvervalst rockende “Are You Gonna Go My Way” (Lenny Kravitz). Mijn persoonlijke favorieten zijn Bowies “Loving The Alien” en George Harrisons “Isn’t It A Pity”, waarvan ook een mooie clip is gemaakt. Een heerlijk album.

Two years ago Peter Frampton announced his farewell tour. The master guitarist suffers from Inclusion Body Myositis, a disease in which the muscles become inflamed and lose their strength. Taking this into account, “Frampton Forgets The Words” could well be his last album. But of course you never know that with musicians, they go on until they literally drop out. Of course, Peter Frampton does not need to be introduced anymore and I will not do that.

For his new album he chose to record covers and perform them entirely instrumentally, without vocals. These are ten of his favorite songs and we hear works from the likes of Sly Stone, George Harrison, Roxy Music, Lenny Kravitz and Frampton's old school friend and temporary employer David Bowie. (Both were in the same class in high school) The result is a very tasteful album with ten beautifully and lovingly performed songs. Frampton's band remains in the background and provides the basis on which the boss can build his own work. He shows here that he has various styles in his fingers. From the funky “If You Want Me To Stay” (Sly Stone), soulful “One More Hreatache” (Marvin Gaye) to the jazzy “Dreamland” (Jaco Pastorius / Michel Colombier) and the unadulterated rocking “Are You Gonna Go My Way (Lenny Kravitz). My personal favorites are Bowie’s “Loving The Alien” and George Harrison's “Isn't It A Pity”, of which a nice clip was also made. A wonderful album.
