DEAN OWENS
With 7 official solo albums under his belt, award winning Scottish singer songwriter, widely hailed as one of UK’s finest troubadours, with fans including Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh and BBC legend "Whispering" Bob Harris is certainly not a newcomer. But with his upcoming album Sinner's Shrine to be released in the fall, Dean comes up with some remarkable moves.
First of all there's the album itself: Sinner’s Shrine was recorded with Joey Burns and John Convertino of desert noir icons Calexico at Wavelab Studio, Tucson, just before the pandemic struck. And then Dean has created a path of 3 EP releases as stepping stones to the release in the fall of 2021 of Sinner's Shrine
The Desert Trilogy EPs were partly recorded at WaveLab Studios, and partly long distance during various COVID lockdowns, with guest musicians recording from makeshift home studios in USA (El Paso, Denver, Nashville, New York), Germany (Berlin) and Scotland. All of them refusing to be stopped by a global pandemic, with Dean at the helm, driven by the irresistible urge to keep following his inspiration, and keep creating music. Special guests include Guatemalan singer songwriter Gaby Moreno and Grant Lee Phillips (Gilmore Girls TV show, Grant Lee Buffalo). Every EP will also have 1 track of the upcoming album.
the next 2 EPS will be released in May and July
