Parnell en gitarist Dave Barnes, die Bruce McCarthy (drums), Mike Meusel (bas) en Alan Zemaitis (toetsen) erbij betrokken. Een jaar later voegden Stephen Dyte (trompet) en Julian Nalli (tenorsax) zich bij het gezelschap.
Zij wonnen de 2018 Toronto Blues Society Talent Search en speelden op de diverse festivals in hun land.
Volgend jaar toeren zij door Europa en hun optreden op Moulin Blues is inmiddels bevestigd.
Onlangs verscheen van hen het zelf getitelde debuutalbum. Hierop staan tien nummers die zijn geschreven door Parnell en Barnes met medewerking van de rest van de band. Hoewel uit het noorden van het Amerikaanse continent komt hun muziek toch echt regelrecht uit het zuiden van de Verenigde Staten: southern rock, de samensmelting van blues, country en rock.



Dat wordt meteen duidelijk bij het intro van het eerste nummer “Arizona”. Dat begint met een rustige slidegitaar en orgel en brandt al snel los in een stevige rocksong. De band is strak en swingend, de blazers zorgen voor de nodige soul en de stem van Meghan….. Wauw, die stem. Soepel en rauw, fluisterend en brullend. En vooral bij het wat rustigere werk komt deze stem tot volle ontplooiing.

Nummers die wat betreft een speciale vermelding verdienen zijn het rockende “Forgive” en de soulvolle ballad

“Walk On By”. Een heel fraai debuut, veelbelovend.

It went fast with Bywater Call. In 2017 the band was founded in Toronto, Canada by singer Meghan Parnell and guitarist Dave Barnes, who involved Bruce McCarthy (drums), Mike Meusel (bass) and Alan Zemaitis (keys). A year later, Stephen Dyte (trumpet) and Julian Nalli (tenor sax) joined the band. They won the 2018 Toronto Blues Society Talent Search and played at the various festivals in their country. The band will be touring Europe next year and their performance at Moulin Blues has already been confirmed.

A self-titled debut album was recently released by them. It contains ten songs written by Parnell and Barnes with the cooperation of the rest of the band. Although from the north of the American continent their music comes straight from the south of the USA: southern rock, the fusion of blues, country and rock. That immediately becomes clear with the intro of the first song  quot;Arizona". It starts with a quiet slide guitar and organ and soon burns loose in a solid rock song. The band is tight and swinging, the horns provide the necessary soul and the voice of Meghan ... .. Wow, that voice. Smooth and raw, whispering and roaring. And especially with the somewhat quieter work, this voice fully comes to its own. Songs that deserve special mention are the rocking "Forgive" and the soulful ballad "Walk On By". A good debut, very promising.
