BLUESMAGAZINE WEEKLY PLAYLIST 42

Bluesmagazine’s weekly playlist is een gevarieerde lijst met onder andere tips van de luisteraars. Er is verder muziek met een link naar Bluesmagazine (releases, recensies, concert reviews) en daarna is de keuze gigantisch. De playlist is voor de luisteraar, naast het lezen van Bluesmagazine en andere Blues websites, een manier om nieuwe artiesten en hun muziek te leren kennen. Samenstelling: Jos Verhagen

De playlist start met een oudje uit 1928 van Henry Thomas en eindigt met Esther Phillips. Deze in 1984 overleden blues en soulzangeres is een luister beurt waard. Zoek haar album The Essential Esther Phillips – The KUDU Years eens op in Spotify, een heerlijk album van een veelzijdig zangeres. RICHIE CANNATA Billy Joel's original sax player komt naar Nederland!!!

 Billy Joel’s originele saxofonist Richie Cannata komt op 22 januari naar Nederland om met The Billy Joel Experience een uniek concert te geven in De Meerpaal. Richie maakte deel uit van de legendarische band die Billy Joel (USA) boven zichzelf liet uitstijgen vanaf het album ‘Turnstiles’ via ‘The Stranger’ langs ‘52nd Street’ uitkomend bij ‘Glass Houses’.

Tegenwoordig toert Richie nog steeds met twee andere leden van deze oorspronkelijke bezetting, Liberty DeVitto en Russel Javors, onder de toepasselijke naam ´The Lords of 52nd Street´. Het repertoire waarmee de meester doorbrak en de echte 'Billy Joel Sound’ komt van déze band, van déze musici. De historische saxofoonsolo's zijn dus nagenoeg allemaal van Richie Cannata.

Boek: De Duivel ligt altijd op de loer.

Harry de Jong interviewde tussen 1974 en 2019 rond de 2000 popmuzikanten. Hij zoekt zijn helden op en laat ze onder het genot van een geurig kopje thee een eind weg kletsen.

Harry de Jong: geboren in 1952 in het Friese Oudeschoot maakte de afgelopen 45 jaar een fascinerende reis door de internationale muziekindustrie. Hij schrijft/ schreef o.a. voor GPD, Lust For Life ( Revolver), OOR, Humo, Friesch Dagblad en de Australische editie van de Rolling Stone. Overal kwam de Jong backstage, in een hotelkamer of bij de groten der aarde thuis op de bank. Een aantal van zijn avonturen vond zijn weg in het lijvige boek ‘De Duivel Ligt Altijd Op De Loer’.

Hij mediteerde in Berlijn met Donovan, rookte in Texas een jointje met Willie Nelson, betrapte in Los Angeles John Lee Hooker met drie vriendinnen, zat in Londen op de stoel waarop Mick Jagger net wilde plaatsnemen,

Het is ondertussen al veel meer dan alleen een bluesprogramma op de radio. Bluesworld is voor de vele bluesliefhebbers in Nederland een echte thuishaven geworden. Agenda bekijken? Alles lezen over nieuwe Cd-releases? Hoe is het met mijn favoriete band? Allemaal vragen waarop Tonio Aa op Bluesworld.nl antwoorden heeft. Maar de basis is al tien jaar en vijfhonderd uitzendingen (!!!) het radio-programma Bluesworld. In december viert Bluesworld deze jubilea uitgebreid met een groot Bluesfeest in Hedon in Zwolle.

Bospop 2023 komt met de eerste namen

De eerste tweeëntwintig namen voor Bospop 2023 zijn een feit. Dit jaar kent Bospop weer drie festivaldagen met een volledig programma op meerdere podia. De headliners van Bospop 2023 zijn niemand minder dan Simply Red, Porcupine Tree en Zucchero. Daarnaast nemen ook Rag’n’Bone Man, +LIVE+, Nile Rodgers & Chic en Joe Bonamassa plaats op het podium in Weert. De 41ste editie van het festival vindt plaats op vrijdag 7, zaterdag 8 en zondag 9 juli 2023 op Evenemententerrein A2 Weert Noord. Het twintigjarige country-, blues- en soultalent Boaz toert in de eerste helft van 2023 met zijn band langs de Nederlandse poppodia. De carrière van de jonge Harlinger heeft zich razendsnel ontwikkeld nadat in september 2022 zijn debuutalbum ‘Keep It Simple’ verscheen en lovend werd ontvangen door media en publiek. In diezelfde periode was hij één van de meest gevraagde artiesten tijdens de meest recente editie van de Popronde. De komende clubtour omvat inmiddels elf shows verspreid over het land, de voorverkoop is gestart.

But she got ‘Busted’. The entire track was recorded in one day and Gash slammed the vocal out in 2 takes.”  The initial recording presented, “In The Wind,” has been received with a tremendous reception globally, and can be heard here: https://youtu.be/AkbnEj2yDw0 . At the time of the reveal, Vai offered, “’In The Wind’ was the first track that was recorded for this record.
