Rip Room’s been waiting a while to let Alight & Resound loose into the world. They originally recorded the LP back in 2019, but held off on release due to the pandemic. They recorded it with Tim Green of Nation of Ulysses fame, and they’re a fair comparison for Rip Room’s noisy, Dischord-inspired post-hardcore.

Het eerst wat opvalt bij het openen van een postpakje van de blues rock band Dixi’s is de front cover van hun laatste CD Ajeto een blikvanger van je welste.

Maar wat moet je met zo’n titel en waar komt zo’n titel vandaan en hoe spreek je dit uit? Wat blijkt  deze komt voor uit de serie van Buurman & Buurman.

Dixi’s een band uit Amersfoort met Herbie Vandeloo – Gitaar Vocals , Dirk Kollen- Bas,  en drummer Arne ten Hoedt.

ZZ Top bereidt een nieuw album voor met de titel RAW dat werd opgenomen in verband met de razend populaire en veelgeprezen Netflix-documentaire That Little Ol' Band From Texas uit 2019. De voor een Grammy genomineerde speelfilm van Banger Films en regisseur Sam Dunn bevat een intermezzo waarin de klassieke line-up van de groep - Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard en wijlen Dusty Hill - samenkomt voor een zeer intieme sessie in Gruene Hall, "de oudste continu draaiende dans zaal in Texas". Dat optreden vormde de basis voor de release van het RAW- album.

Joshua Hedley is "a singing professor country & western", verklaart hij op zijn rauwe en geestige nieuwe album, Neon Blue. Het klinkt misschien als een clou, maar dat is het niet. Als topvioolspeler, scherpe gitarist en zanger met een granieten twang wijdt hij zijn hele leven aan de studie van dit genre. Vraag hem ernaar en hij zal het uitleggen: "Toen al mijn vrienden gingen studeren, ging ik naar Nashville. Ik was 19 jaar oud, speelde in honky tonks en kreeg veel advies.” Zijn debuut in 2018, Mr. Jukebox, toonde zijn diepgaande kennis van de geschiedenis van het land, in het bijzonder de ballads van de jaren vijftig en zestig. Zijn mentoren waren George Jones, Ray Price en Glen Campbell, maar zijn meest opmerkelijke prestatie was om zijn eigen draai aan hun stijl te geven.

Bekende namen als Guus Meeuwis, Danny Vera, Krezip en Direct zijn opgenomen in de line up voor het festival Tuckerville, op 10 september op het Rutbeek in Enschede. Dat heeft de organisatie van het evenement bekendgemaakt. Ook de Amerikaanse singer-songwriter Matt Simons staat op het podium, net als Ilse DeLange, die op haar eigen festival niet kan ontbreken. De kaartverkoop start donderdag 10 maart via de website van het festival.
