Na een vliegende start in 2014 met veel eigen werk, is Sweet Bourbon al snel niet meer weg te denken uit het Nederlandse clubcircuit. De vijf jaar die daarop volgden waren een ‘rollercoaster ride’. Met een live album, een debuut album, 2 singles, een aantal clips en vele live shows in binnen- en buitenland, heeft Sweet Bourbon laten zien dat ‘they’re here to stay’.

Nanci Griffith - Overleden: 13 augustus 2021
Zeer bewonderd door haar collega-artiesten en een toegewijd leger van fans, was Nanci Griffith, die op 68-jarige leeftijd is overleden, een voorbeeld van een stijl van muzikale verhalen vertellen met een literair tintje, gericht op de kleine details van het leven van haar personages. Nummers als Love at the Five and Dime en Gulf Coast Highway zijn vaste waarden geworden in de folk-country canon (Griffith beschreef haar muziek als "folkabilly"), en de Grammy-prijs die ze won voor haar album Other Voices, Other Rooms in 1994 leek een langverwachte beloning voor haar zorgvuldig vervaardigde oeuvre.

De drummer van de Rolling Stones, Charlie Watts is overleden. Dat heeft de agent van de rockgroep laten weten. Charlie Watts was 80.
Vorige week had Watts al aangekondigd dat hij niet mee zou gaan met de komende toernee van de Rolling Stones. Hij had net een medische ingreep ondergaan en zijn artsen adviseerden hem om rust te houden.

Bluesman Tony Holiday convened several sessions with a cavalcade of players - friends and mentors - for Porch Sessions Volume 2. The sixteen tracks recorded raw without overdubs at studios in Memphis and Jackson TN, Bristol VA, Fort Collins CO, Clarksdale MS, Anaheim and San Jose CA are reminiscent of the historic Lomax field recordings from the 1930’s/40’s that documented undiscovered voices of roots music.
