New Single: Joanne Shaw Taylor - If That Ain’t A Reason

Earlier today we announced the release of the  brand new single from the British blues rock guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor  - “If That Ain’t A Reason”. The new song produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and is taken from her highly anticipated album released later this year.  The single (out today) is released on Joe Bonamassa’s new independent label, Keeping the Blues Alive (KTBA Records).  The single is available for the general public to stream and download from this official link – www.jbonamassa.com/streaming/jst/ifthat.

Jungle by Night is een negenkoppig blaas- en percussiecollectief. De combinatie van funk, jazz, techno, latin en powerjams vormen samen een aanstekelijk en geheel eigen genre van dansbare muziek: 'Analog Dance Music'. Met hun experimentele geluid en energieke concerten weet de band al sinds de oprichting in 2010 een breed publiek aan te spreken. Jungle by Night speelde afgelopen jaren meer dan 600 shows in 34 landen op uiteenlopende festivals en podia. Dit jaar zijn ze o.a. als special guest live te zien op Down The Rabbit Hole festival.

17 juli Wandelend muziekfestival bij De Amer

Dit wil je niet missen… Samen met de Muziekcoöperatie Meppel en Poppunt Drenthe organiseert De Amer op zaterdag 17 juli a.s. de muzikale wandeldag ‘Langs de Oevers van de Tijd’. Een kleinschalig evenement voor natuur- en muziekliefhebbers.

 Een muzikale reis van 12 x 12

Met ‘Langs de Oevers van de Tijd’ ben je 12 uur onder de pannen, maar dan wel in de buitenlucht. Overdag maak je een tocht van 12 kilometer door het prachtige natuurgebied van de Drentsche Aa. Onderweg stop je drie keer voor akoestische concerten op bijzondere locaties in de natuur en ‘s avonds is het genieten geblazen met twee concerten in de tuin van De Amer. De vijf optredens nemen je mee op een muzikale reis waar je zowel verstilde pianocomposities als swingende roots kunt beluisteren. Dansen mag!

News: Veertig jaar Bospop: een terugblik

 

Bospop gaat dit jaar helaas niet door. Geen Sting, Lionel Richie of Kensington op het festivalterrein in Weert. De tent en campingspullen blijven nog even op zolder en de tickets onder de lepelbak. Niet getreurd! Om jullie toch een beetje te laten genieten van Bospop, blikt Lust For Life samen met directeur Peter Verkennis terug op de geschiedenis van het Limburgse festival.

Acclaimed Florida blues/rock guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader Sean Chambers pays tribute to his friend and mentor Hubert Sumlin on his new album That’s What I’m Talkin About. Out July 9, 2021 on Quarto Valley Records, the record contains ten songs Chambers regularly performed during his more than four years backing up Sumlin beginning in the late 90s and one Chambers original. Hubert Sumlin was, of course, Howlin’ Wolf’s lead guitarist during his golden era and one of the architects of Chicago blues. The album features appearances from lauded keyboardists Bruce Katz and John Ginty.

New Single: Ellis Mano Band - Ambedo

On Friday July 9^th, the Ellis Mano Band will release their new single and accompanying music video  “Ambedo Mind”.  This is the third single taken from their critically acclaimed sophomore album “Ambedo” released to rave reviews by Jazzhaus Records on June 25^th.

 This is my personal favourite track from the new album.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.  

The band’s guitarist, Edis Mano, talks about the concept behind the making of the music video for the Amebedo Mind single – “During the pandemic, I was able to teach myself filmmaking which is something I have wanted to do that for years. What I always missed was the time to learn it in peace and self-taught (thanks YouTube).”

 Once described by Eric Clapton as ‘The legitimate successor to Peter Green’, Mick has toured Europe with the likes of BB King, Luther Allison, Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Luther Allison, Sherman Robertson and recorded with Jimmy Carl Black (Frank Zappa), Roy Estrada (Little Feat)  and Adrian Byron Burns.

Het helpt als je als muzikant afstamt van een familie die al behoorlijk wat heeft betekend in de muziek. Vader Andy Johns was geluidstechnicus, die samen heeft gewerkt met Rolling Stones en Eric Clapton. Moeder Paula Boyd is de zus van Pattie Boyd, waardoor Clapton, George Harrison en Mick Fleetwood zijn ooms zijn. Een andere oom, Glyn Johns, is producer voor o.m. the Who, Led Zeppelin, Clapton, Steve Miller. Mocht dat de enige verdienste zijn voor Will Johns dan zou ik geen stukje tekst aan Will hebben gewijd, maar gelukkig kan de goede man zelf ook nog wat.
