Ghosts, released today, is the second single taken from Troy’s upcoming album “The Fire Cosmic” released August 6^th.  Written on a beat up 1929 National Triolian Resonator, Ghosts follows a character that first appeared in the song The Line from Troy's previous album Dirt Blues Ritual.

 Once described by Eric Clapton as ‘The legitimate successor to Peter Green’, Mick has toured Europe with the likes of BB King, Luther Allison, Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Luther Allison, Sherman Robertson and recorded with Jimmy Carl Black (Frank Zappa), Roy Estrada (Little Feat)  and Adrian Byron Burns.

Het helpt als je als muzikant afstamt van een familie die al behoorlijk wat heeft betekend in de muziek. Vader Andy Johns was geluidstechnicus, die samen heeft gewerkt met Rolling Stones en Eric Clapton. Moeder Paula Boyd is de zus van Pattie Boyd, waardoor Clapton, George Harrison en Mick Fleetwood zijn ooms zijn. Een andere oom, Glyn Johns, is producer voor o.m. the Who, Led Zeppelin, Clapton, Steve Miller. Mocht dat de enige verdienste zijn voor Will Johns dan zou ik geen stukje tekst aan Will hebben gewijd, maar gelukkig kan de goede man zelf ook nog wat.

Deze week komt het fraaie album van the Wallflowers uit, Het is ruim negen jaar geleden dat Jacob Dylan weer met zijn Wallflowers een nieuw album ten gehore brengen. We waren nooit echt fan van the Wallflowers maar dit album is uitstekend en verrast vooral toen het nummer Roots and Wings passeerde dacht ik iets van Dire Straits of Dylan maar het waren the Wallflowers. Een heel afwisselend album.

 Dat Bacon Fat Louis op de een of andere manier anders is dan andere bands mag in de loop van hun bestaan wel duidelijk geworden zijn. Niet alleen hun rauwe spel op grotendeels zelfgemaakte instrumenten maar ook de verpakking van hun cd’s wijkt af. Werd de vorige cd, “The Glorious Gospel & Blues Of Henry Sloan” nog compleet met boek geleverd, deze keer is een bluesoverlijdenskalender toegevoegd, uitgevoerd als een verjaardagskalender maar dan met daarop de sterfdata van een groot aantal blueshelden.

De in 1976 in New York City geboren Chris Bergson behoort al vele jaren tot de beste gitaristen en componisten uit de blueswereld. Zijn debuut verscheen in 1997 en sindsdien is hij naast een veelgevraagd muzikant ook leider van zijn eigen band en niet meer weg te denken uit de bluesscene. Buiten dat Bergson op diverse albums van anderen te horen is, is zijn eigen discografie ook flinke vormen aan te nemen. Onlangs is zijn elfde album verschenen met de titel “All I Got Left”. 

Paul de Munnik Tuinconcerten 24 en 25 juli

Paul de Munnik speelt deze zomer in de tuin van De Amer. We zijn enorm blij dat het is gelukt om de concerten te verplaatsen die afgelopen jaar niet konden doorgaan.  En we zijn extra verheugd dat Paul niet één, maar twee dagen in Amen is. Op 24 én 25 juli geeft hij een dubbelconcert. Ben jij er bij?
