De in 1976 in New York City geboren Chris Bergson behoort al vele jaren tot de beste gitaristen en componisten uit de blueswereld. Zijn debuut verscheen in 1997 en sindsdien is hij naast een veelgevraagd muzikant ook leider van zijn eigen band en niet meer weg te denken uit de bluesscene. Buiten dat Bergson op diverse albums van anderen te horen is, is zijn eigen discografie ook flinke vormen aan te nemen. Onlangs is zijn elfde album verschenen met de titel “All I Got Left”.
Het is een soloalbum geworden, waarbij ‘solo’ ook echt als ‘solo’ kan worden beschouwd. Alleen Chris Bergson met zijn gitaar. De nummers zijn opgenomen in maart van dit jaar in de Excello Recording Studio in Brooklyn met Hugh Pool aan de knoppen. Er staan tien nummers op de cd, waaronder enkele covers en verder eigen werk. Van dat laatste is het gedeeltelijk volledig nieuw werk en voor de rest nieuwe uitvoeringen van oude nummers. Het begint met het emotioneel gezongen titelnummer “All I Got Left” en via nummers als de countryblues “Cheap Guitar”, het bewerkte “Lattitude”, de Chuck Berry-cover “Back In Memphis” naar het door Bob Dylan geschreven “Blind Willie McTell”, waarmee het album wordt afgesloten. Born in 1976 in New York City, Chris Bergson has been one of the best guitarists and composers in the blues world for many years. His debut album appeared in 1997 and since then, in addition to being a much sought-after musician, he has also been the leader of his own band and has become an integral part of the blues scene. Besides the fact that Bergson can be heard on various albums by others, his own discography is also taking shape. His eleventh album was recently released with the title “All I Got Left”.

The songs were recorded in March of this year at the Excello Recording Studio in Brooklyn with Hugh Pool at the controls. There are ten songs on the CD, including some covers and own work. The latter is partly completely new work and for the rest new versions of old songs. It starts with the emotionally sung title track "All I Got Left" and through songs like the country blues "Cheap Guitar", there-worked "Lattitude", the Chuck Berry cover "Back In Memphis" to Bob Dylan’s "Blind Willie McTell ”, the closer of the album. In all its simplicity this is a beautiful CD and an absolute must.
