De laatste jaren ontwikkelde hij zich tot een van de meest aansprekende maar ook dwarse countrymuzikanten, nu duikt hij diep in de geschiedenis en komt met zijn interpretaties van tien traditionals, zichzelf begeleidend op een zelfgemaakte banjo en bijgestaan door Chance McCoy. Hash Brown (Brian Calway) begon met het spelen van blues in 1973. Hij werd sterk beïnvloed door Duke Robillard en Roomful of Blues, Ronnie Earl met Sugar Ray and the Bluetones. Hij speelde blues in het noordoosten voordat hij in 1983 naar Dallas, Texas verhuisde. Sindsdien speelt Hash Brown al meer dan 23 jaar blues in Dallas. Nadat hij naar Texas was verhuisd, stortte hij zich in een levendige muziekscene en werd hij een integraal onderdeel van de bands ZuZu Bollin, UP Wilson, Robert Ealey, Willie Willis, Big Al Dupree, Henry Qualls. Hash Brown toerde vele malen door de VS en Europa. Hij is op maar liefst 30 verschillende opnames verschenen

Zanger Jimi Bellmartin, die in 2018 het eerste seizoen van The Voice Senior won, is op 72-jarige leeftijd overleden. Hij werd enkele dagen geleden opgenomen in het ziekenhuis, waar hij afgelopen nacht rond 03:30 uur overleed, bevestigt zijn management.
Wat hem precies mankeerde, is niet duidelijk. De manager spreekt van een kort ziekbed.
