Bennie isgeboren op 6 september 1946 in Hummelo .
Hij heeft als bijnaam Buuzen Berend toen hij bij Normaal al zangpartij en gitaarwerk ging doen, hij is tevens een van de oprichters van deze band vanaf 1975 toen ze voor het eerst in het dialect optraden tijdens het jaarlijkse Hemelvaartsdag in de ( leemkuele)Lochem waar ze enorm veel succes mee hadden .
