Dana Fuchs is one of the most admired blues-rock stars in the world today. Her hypnotic voice and presence have led critics to compare her to Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, and Mick Jagger. Born in New Jersey and raised in Wildwood, Florida, the raspy-voiced blues-rock-soul singer-songwriter found inspiration in her parents Ray Charles and Hank Williams record collection. Upon leaving high school, Fuchs had no choice but to follow her muse to New York City finding herself as the toast of Broadway when starring in the Janis Joplin musical, Love, Janis. Soon thereafter, she did another star turn in Julie Taymor's romantic musical drama Across the Universe, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globe Awards.

I woke up at dawn on New Years Day 2020. As I walked towards the kitchen to get some water, I spotted a mouse laying on it’s back, cartoonishly announcing itself as especially dead. Our cat Tanti sat beside it, beaming with pride. It was the only mouse I’d seen in our apartment in a decade, dead or alive. I disposed of it, hoping that it wasn’t an omen for the coming year, and went back to bed. I declined to tell my partner Angie about it. I still haven’t. She won’t read this.

De iconische Amerikaanse bluesrockgitarist Walter Trout brengt op 19 augustus zijn 30e soloalbum Ride uit via Provogue/Mascot Label Group. De eerste single van het nieuwe albim 'Ghost' is vanaf vandaag te beluisteren. 
 
Hoe snel of ver een man ook reist, hij kan zijn verleden nooit echt ontlopen. Op zijn nieuwe album keek hij naar de horizon en de groene spruiten van zijn triomfantelijke late carrière. Er was een nieuw platencontract bij Mascot/Provogue. Een verhuizing van Californië naar Denemarken met zijn geliefde familie. Zelfs nu, op 70-jarige leeftijd, schreef Trout nog steeds nieuwe hoofdstukken van zijn levensverhaal.

Eigenlijk ontstond de Prince tribute band 'Beautiful Strangers' spontaan. Na de plotselinge dood van Prince in april 2016 kreeg aan aantal topmuzikanten het verzoek om te spelen op een herdenkingsbijeenkomst voor Prince. Dit was een groot succes, waarbij er gedanst werd, het dak eraf ging en er tranen werden vergoten.
Daarna ging het heel erg hard met dit bijzondere gezelschap. In no-time was er theatershow langs meer dan 25 theaters in het voorjaar van 2018 en in het najaar 2018 een nog grotere reprise tour. Het werd ook duidelijk waarom de theaters, waar het mogelijk was, de stoelen lieten verwijderen. De show is zo opwindend, stomend en funky dat het publiek uit de stoelen werd gespeeld. Gevolg was dan ook dat er een steeds groter aantal poppodia met het verzoek kwam om een clubtour, die kwam er in het voorjaar van 2019.

On the title track to Welcome 2 Club XIII, Drive-By Truckers pay homage to the Muscle Shoals honky-tonk where founding members Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley got their start: a concrete-floored dive lit like a disco, with the nightly promise of penny beer and truly dubious cover bands. “There were no cool bars in town and Club XIII was the best we had—but it wasn’t all that good, and our band wasn’t particularly liked there,” says Hood, referring to the vocalist/guitarists’ former band Adam’s House Cat. “From time to time the owner would throw us a Wednesday night or let us open for a hair-metal band we were a terrible fit for, and everyone would hang out outside until we were done playing.

Al vanaf 1993 zendt Regio90, de streekomroep voor de gemeenten Utrechtse Heuvelrug en Wijk bij Duurstede, elke zondagmiddag om 12.00 uur het radioprogramma ‘Highstreet Jazz& Blues’ uit. Evert Wybenga was de grondlegger ervan, later bijgestaan door de huidige presentator Jos du Floo.  Na zijn overlijden in 2018 nam Jos definitief het stokje van Evert over. Het eerste uur van het programma draait Jos bluesmuziek met de allernieuwste cd’s, interviews en optredens. Het tweede uur staat in het teken van Jazz-muziek.
