Zijn muzikale carrière bracht hem over de hele wereld. Hij heeft samengewerkt met artiesten als Double Trouble, Susan Tedeschi, Sam Myers, Anson Funderburgh, Mike Morgan en vele anderen. Pittman geldt als een van de belangrijkste vertegenwoordigers van de moderne Texasblues. Zijn eerste soloalbum verscheen in 1998 en onlangs is zijn vijftiende verschenen, getiteld “My Journey”.........

We zitten inmiddels in het nieuwe jaar en we hopen natuurlijk dat het voor iedereen een heel fijn, gezond en muzikaal 2025 mag worden!  Over een kleine vier maanden, 2 & 3 mei,  is het weer tijd voor ons jaarlijkse bluesfeest in Ospel. Daarom hoog tijd om de volgende acht namen aan te kondigen voor Moulin Blues 2025......

Shawn Pittman – Hard Road Geschreven door: Eric Campfens i.s.m. BarnOwlBlues | FB Eric Campfens Met de paplepel ingegoten, dat is zeker van toepassing op Shawn Pittman. Oma speelde boogiewoogie op feestjes en al op jonge leeftijd kreeg de in Talihina, Oklahoma in de Native-American Choctaw gemeenschap geboren Shawn pianoles. Later leerde hij drums en toen hij eenmaal een gitaar in handen kreeg en de muziek van Lightnin’ Hopkins en Muddy Waters ontdekte, was het hek helemaal van de dam. Al vroeg verhuisde hij naar Dallas, Texas, van waaruit hij nu de wereld rondtoert met zijn versie van de Texas Blues.

As most of you already know, I am predominantly an electric guitar player. Over the years of my playing, I have also grown to greatly admire musicians like Lightnin’ Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Lil’ Son Jackson, Bukka White, JB Lenoir and ‘Mississippi’ John Hurt. These guys are not only great acoustic guitar players and singers, but also incredible story tellers! They are part of our oral history as significant as any document you can find. They inspired me to follow in their footsteps and work on the craft of a story, a song, and an acoustic guitar.

At eight years old his mother sent him for piano lessons, but he never liked learning to play. His elder brother's drum kit held more fascination for Pittman, before he progressed in his early teens to playing the guitar. A schoolfriend introduced him to records made by Lightnin' Hopkins and Muddy Waters.
