Produced by the late Andy Paley and completed by longtime collaborator Marvin Etzioni, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Grey DeLisle's forthcoming album, Don't Turn Around, is a deeply personal collection of unforgettable storytelling, hard-earned humor, and remarkable resilience. Featuring an extraordinary cast of collaborators including Deke Dickerson, Old 97's bassist Murry Hammond, Stephen McCarthy of The Long Ryders, Greg Leisz, Chris Scruggs, Tammy Rogers, Bernie Dresel, Mandy Barnett, Mickey Raphael, engineer Jake Gideon, and special guest Dave Alvin, the album draws from classic country, California roots music, and rockabilly traditions while remaining unmistakably Grey DeLisLe.
Across its 11 songs, Don't Turn Around explores the many ways people leave one another and the roads they travel afterward, balancing heartbreak with warmth, wit, and resilience. Standout tracks include the George Jones-inspired "There's the Door," the Dave Alvin duet "You're Driving Me Away," the darkly funny trucker song "The Lights Are Off But Somebody's Home," and the barroom tale "Open Mic at the Stumble Inn."
The album's story began between takes on the set of SpongeBob SquarePants, where DeLisle met producer Andy Paley. Their unlikely friendship became one of the most meaningful creative partnerships of her recording career before Paley's passing in 2024. Completed by Etzioni, Don't Turn Around honors that collaboration while celebrating DeLisle's singular ability to pair timeless songwriting with unmistakable personality.
Though millions know DeLisle as one of Hollywood's most accomplished voice actors, her acclaimed music career has earned a Grammy Award and established her as one of Americana's most distinctive songwriters.
