Pop roots rock duo Feenstra & Simpson announce their 10th single release called ‘Other People’s Eyes’ on 15th April via all leading platforms.

Feenstra & Simpson is a British pop roots-rock duo comprising Vocalist and multi instrumentalist John Simpson (The Feelgood Band & Sparko’s Going Back Home) and award winning broadcaster and lyricist Pete Feenstra.

As with many of their previous single, the duo has a story to tell.

As Pete explains: “I had the simple idea of writing a song from a buskers and street artist’s perspective, but the song quickly garnered a wider remit thanks to the power of an urban rumour, and inevitably social media.

While I was searching for inspiration, I came across the unlikely but incredible tale of Sir Paul McCartney busking incognito on London’s Southbank to unsuspecting punters.
The story goes that he played for 30 or so minutes and didn't make much and then moved on.”

True or not, the rumour poignantly illustrates the way people receive their music and art through media “gatekeepers". And had they known it was Sir Paul, there would probably have been thousands listening.

As Pete summarises: “I also thought it would be perfect for John’s Beatle harmonies, subtle chord changes and story telling phrasing, all of which come together superbly on the song’s middle eight.”

John Simpson: For this song I took Pete’s words and set them to an existing piece of music/melody I already had, having realised the words would fit.

I was rather pleased when the chorus and the bridge just came to me as I was working through the recording, from where I do not know. Being a Beatles geek, I am particularly pleased with the “oooo” after the 2nd mention of McCartney, but I hope there’s plenty to keep normal people interested too."
