ERJA LYYTINEN: NEW LIVE ALBUM DIAMONDS ON THE ROAD RELEASED OCTOBER 6th

After the release of two great singles like “You Talk Dirty”, and “Diamonds On The Road”, Erja Lyytinen new double live album, “Diamonds On The Road – Live 2023”, will be released on October 6^th.

The idea of this new work from Erja Lyytinen, from Finland, one of the greatest European female singers and guitar players, is that music comes to life and evolves when performed on stage, where there is no safety net, you get one shot at capturing those perfect moments and preserving them forever.

“Diamonds On The Road – Live 2023” is Erja Lyytinen’s fourth live album, and follows on from Songs from the Road, Live in London and Lockdown Live.

The album is the first concert release from the gifted guitarist to capture the post-Covid live experience. “Diamonds on the Road was recorded towards the end of our Spring tour in March 2023,” she says. “We played ten shows in a row, of which eight were sold out.

The band had a good flow going and the songs were rolling nicely.” Speaking about her new concert album, Lyytinen said: “When playing live, you’ve got one moment to get it right, and then the moment is gone.

There is no correcting stuff later, so it is very raw and exciting to play and sing at the same time. The adrenaline runs through your body, and everything around you affects your performance.” Erja Lyytinen’s sound has evolved over the years, thanks to her equipment and repertoire of trusty axes, as she moves easily from Telecaster to Stratocaster.

The set list of the album showcase the old, the new, the borrowed and the blues, as the reprise of “You Talk Dirty”, originally released for the first time 20 years ago on her first recording, or the Jimi Hendrix classic, “Crosstown Traffic”, where she made her own version of it by playing the song using slide.

An exclusive feature not found in the artist's previous concert albums is a song about a Finnish epic saga, Kalevala, it is slightly folk metal and sung in Finnish.

Diamonds on the Road – Live 2023, the new Double CD concert album from Erja Lyytinen, will be released on October 6^th and the first single You Talk Dirty was released on the 12^th of July.

Erja Lyytinen, also know as Queen Of The Slide Guitar, is one of the leading blues-rock guitarists on the international touring circuit.

During a recording career spanning 19 years, she has released twelve studio albums as well as several live albums. Lyytinen’s musical pallet is vast, encompassing the very best of contemporary blues-rock whilst inspired and influenced by the blues greats of yore.

The artist’s last studio album Waiting for the Daylight was released in 2022 and was ranked #3 on Finland´s Official Physical Album Charts and #14 on the IBBA October Charts in the UK. The first single released from Erja's latest studio offering, Bad Seed was chosen as the 13th Best Rock Song of the year by Classic Rock Magazine.

Furthermore, Lyytinen’s guitar solo from “Bad Seed” reached 10th place in Guitar World’s Best guitar solo of 2022 reader's poll. Lyytinen has been acknowledged for her work by her fans, peers, and the industry alike with a treasure trove of accolades.

This includes being ranked #2 on Total Guitar Magazine’s “10 Best Guitarists Now” poll as well as being awarded “Best Guitarist” at the 2017 European Blues Awards. Erja made history by being the first Finnish artist nominated at Canada´s Maple Blues Awards in the B.B. King International Artist of the Year category. Erja Lyytinen’s sound has evolved over the years.

Beginning with her traditional blues roots, Lyytinen has been simultaneously pushing forward with a hard rock-orientated style of play whilst always keeping that blues sound at the core of everything she does. “My sound has changed since the last live recording.

My playing has more of a hard-rock element and edge,” confirms the guitarist.
