BLUE MOON MARQUEE - FOR YOUR BLUES GRAMMY CONSIDERATION

BLUE MOON MARQUEE - FOR YOUR BLUES GRAMMY CONSIDERATION

From A.W. Cardinal and Jasmine Colette of Blue Moon Marquee:

Just wanted to reach out and share some special news.

Our album, Scream, Holler & Howl, is on the ballot for consideration for a Grammy nomination in Best Traditional Blues Album. We had watched the documentary, RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World, at the beginning of the pandemic and we were so inspired by this film and the powerful influence Indigenous culture has had on Blues music.

Scream, Holler & Howl came out last month on September 9th and we just found out that it is on the ballot round for consideration.

The real big news is.....We also found out if we do make it to the top 5 nominees...Al would be the first Indigenous person EVER to be nominated in the category.

There is an engaging conversation right now about the need for diversity in the music world, and also a massive narrative on highlighting Indigenous voices.  So the time is nigh.

A nomination would be so much more than just our band getting validation. It would be a monumental shift for the culture and whole Indigenous Community.  It’s way bigger than us, but if we can be a part of getting that wave going… that is profound.

“They are poised for worldwide recognition in an amazing genre-bending ride through American blues and folk, gypsy jazz, Native American themes, jump blues, swing and more. These century-old traditions have been redefined and delivered in a new light here. They are astounding in their depth, groove and soul on this recording.” – Producer and multi-Grammy nominee Duke Robillard

“Blue Moon Marquee has harnessed the best of vintage music that’s practically a century old and brought it into modern times. It’s part haunting, part joyous, and sneakily infectious. And, we’ll add that it’s just a tad better this time with Robillard’s guidance and guitar” – Jim Hynes, Making a Scene.

They embrace the retro vein celebrated for decades between ragtime blues, shady mambo and vintage swing. With a smoldering live performance and outrageous vocals…welcome to the baroque cabaret, where the Charleston disjoins itself!”- Paris Blues Magazine
