Het album “Come Together” is al meer dan een jaar oud, maar ik vond het terecht om er alsnog een stuk over te schrijven. Een jaar of drie geleden besloten de heren Malone en Sibun eens de koppen bij elkaar te steken en een samenwerking aan te gaan. Dit resulteerde in uiterst succesvolle optredens en een album. Voor wie nog niet weten over wie ik het hier heb. .....
Marcus Malone is een in Detroit geboren zanger en gitarist, die blues, soul en Detroit rock combineert tot een verpletterende rockstijl. Gitarist Innes Sibun komt uit het Britse Bath, staat bekend als een van de hardwerkendste en meest zwetende muzikanten op het podium, en heeft naast een eigen solocarrière samengewerkt met Robert Plant, Buddy Guy en Sari Schorr, om er maar een paar te noemen.Beide heren houden van het stevige bluesrockwerk en daarvan valt genoeg te genieten op hun album “Come Together” met tien eigen nummers, geschreven door of Malone, of Sibun of beiden. Het is niet allemaal van-dik-hout rockwerk; er zijn voldoende rustmomenten om even op adem te komen. Met het stevige rockende titelnummer “Come Together” wordt de deur ingetrapt en zetten Malone Sibun de toon. Hierna wordt de luisteraar getrakteerd op afwisselend bluesrock, soulblues en rustigere ballads. Nummers die wat betreft een extra vermelding verdienen zijn “Taste Of Your Love”, dat akoestisch en rustig begint en een stevig rockend refrein heeft, de soulblues “Everyday’s A Miracle” met prachtige zang door Marcus Malone, en de ballad “So Tired Of Living”, waarin Innes Sibun nog eens zijn klasse als gitarist etaleert. Voor mij het hoogtepunt van de plaat. Topklasse.

The album “Come Together” is more than a year old, but I thought it appropriate to write a piece about it after all. About three years ago Messrs Malone and Sibun decided to put their heads together and start a collaboration. This resulted in extremely successful performances and an album. For those who don't know who I'm talking about here. Marcus Malone is a Detroit-born singer and guitarist, who blends blues, soul and Detroit rock into a crushing rock style. Guitarist Innes Sibun hails from Bath, Somerset and is known as one of the hardest-working - and sweating - musicians on stage, and has collaborated with Robert Plant, Buddy Guy and Sari Schorr, to name a few, in addition to a solo career of his own.
Both guys love the heavy blues rock work and there is plenty to enjoy on their album “Come Together” with ten songs of their own, written by either Malone, or Sibun or both. It's not all rough and tough work here; there are sufficient moments of rest to help catch your breath. With the solid rocking title track “Come Together” the door is kicked in and Malone Sibun sets the tone. After this, the listener is treated to alternating blues rock, soul blues and calmer ballads. Tracks that deserve an extra mention are “Taste Of Your Love”, which starts acoustically and calmly and has a heavy rocking chorus, the soul blues “Everyday's A Miracle” with beautiful vocals by Marcus Malone, and the ballad “So Tired Of Living ”, in which Innes Sibun once again shows his class as a guitarist. The highlight of the album for me. A great album.
