Southern rock continues to thriveâ in The Georgia Thunderboltsâ new video for âTake It Slowâ
The Georgia Thunderbolts are riding high. Having just been featured by Rolling Stone, who compared their âlean, muscular songsâ to artists like Blackberry Smoke, The Steel Woods and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band has âa full tank of gas and is heading down the roadâ in the new video for âTake It Slow,â out today via Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group.
Directed by Jim Arborgast, the hard-charging video is the first taste of The Georgia Thunderboltsâ new set of material, slated for release later this year. âTake It Slow is about living life by the wayside,â explains guitarist Riley Couzzourt. âLife wasnât meant to be fast lived, but to be enjoyed and memorable.â âThis song is for anyone who wants to just let loose,â adds vocalist TJ Lyle. âThe struggles of life sometimes seem overbearing, but the answer is to just sit back, relax and Take It Slow.ââIn Georgia, you hear Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and all of the greats everywhere,â says fellow guitarist, Logan Tolbert. âRock and roll is something that comes naturally for us. We feel like we can bring it back.â The press agree, with Classic Rock Magazine dubbing the band âyour new favorite southern rock band,â and American Songwriter calling their recently released debut EP, âtimeless.â âBut these Thunderbolts arenât a low-voltage knockoff of the greats who came before,â Rolling Stone adds. âRather, they keep things fresh by committing to lean, muscular songsâŚSouthern rock continues to thrive in the 21st century.â

Whether it be on the banks of the Mississippi River or deep in the heart of the English countryside, rock ânâ roll lives, breathes, and burns on the outskirts. Hailing from Rome, GA at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, The Georgia Thunderboltsâ scorching signature style is steeped in raw rock, soulful southern swagger, and blistering blues. With a wide swath of inspirations, ranging from southern gospel and Hank Williams to Merle Haggard, Neil Young, Little Feat, Ozzy Osbourne, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band cut their teeth performing with everyone from The Kentucky Headhunters to Blackberry Smoke, resulting in a signature sound steeped in anthemic riffs, wild harmonica, and pulse-pounding drums.
âWeâre going for that timeless and classic sound with a modern twist and newer attitude,â exclaims Lyle. âWe all grew up on rock music,â Riley adds. âIf I could think of three words to describe us, they would be âHardworking, Determined, and Humble.ââ Bristol grins, âIf I could think of three words, they would be âRock and Roll.ââ
