 ‘Blues bie’n Schemerlamp!’  Studio Session  2020-2021    Harp Mitch & Guitar Jakobs

 De Nederlandse zanger en mondharmonicaspeler Michel Zwiers alias Harp Mitch en de Duitse gitarist Helmut Jakobs alias Guitar Jakobs zijn al weer 2 decennia binnen verschillende bands met elkaar onderweg in de bluesscene. Als akoestisch duo zijn ze 3 jaar bezig een programma te ontwikkelen om in theaters, cafés en andere podia, hun reis door de blues te verkondigen.

Bijna 12 maanden zijn ze aan het werk geweest met nummers op te nemen tijdens hun repetities in de studio. Puur akoestisch met gitaar, mondharmonica en zang. Zij hebben zich zelfs gewaagd aan instrumenten die zij normaal gesproken helemaal niet bespelen. Nieuwe uitdagingen durven aangaan en hierbij totaal buiten de comfortzone te treden.

Bij het terug horen van de opnamen bleek dat er veel bruikbaar materiaal was voor het produceren van een cd in eigen beheer. Vanuit de theatergedachte ‘Blues Bie’n Schemerlamp!‘, zijn voor nummers gekozen die hun eigen verhaal in de tijdreis van de blues hebben. Hun eigen gevoel en interpretatie van oude klassiekers in de huidige tijd te transponeren met een eigen sound en timing, is voor beide heren doorslaggevend geweest. Niet de oude “klassieker” natuurgetrouw coveren maar een geheel eigen vingerprint meegeven. Autentisch herkenbare sound is wat Harp Mitch & Guitar Jakobs een de eigen identiteit geeft die live op de bühne juist de energie en innemendheid teweeg brengt.

Met het nieuwe album “Blues bie’n Schemerlamp!”  Studio Session 2020-2021 schilderen ze een bluespad waarbij niet alleen een greep gedaan wordt in de pure amerikaanse blues geschiedenis, maar ook een eerbetoon aan de meest bekende bluesband die nederland op de blueskaart heeft gezet, nl. Cuby& The Blizzards. Het alom bekende “Window of myEyes” wordt op een bijzondere wijze als afsluiter van het album gepresenteerd.

Vanuit vriendschap gesmeden tot one soul geeft de beiden heren een zeer bijzondere energie die leidt tot een broederschap voor het leven.

Vanuit die gedachte ontstaat ‘Blues bie’n Schemerlamp!’  

When friendship becomes brotherhood, it means a deep connection of the soul from person to person. When brotherhood leads to an emotional amalgamation of shared commitment, it provides communication without uttering a word. ‘Blues bie’n Schemerlamp!’  Studio Session   2020-2021    Harp Mitch & Guitar Jakobs

 The Dutch singer and harmonica player Michel Zwiers alias Harp Mitch and the German guitarist Helmut Jakobs alias Guitar Jakobs have been on the road for 2 decades in different bands in the blues scene. As an acoustic duo they have been developing a program for 3 years to announce their journey through the blues in theaters, cafes and other stages. They have been working for almost 12 months recording songs during their rehearsals in the studio. Purely  acoustic with guitar, harmonica and vocals. They have even ventured into instruments they normally don't play at all. Dare to take on new challenges and to step completely outside the comfort zone.

When hearing the recordings, it turned out that there was a lot of useful material for producing a CD in-house. Based on the theater idea "Blues bie" n Schemerlamp! ", Songs have been chosen that have their own story in the time travel of the blues. Transposing their own feeling and interpretation of old classics with their own sound and timing has been decisive for both gentlemen. Do not cover the old “classic” faithfully, but give it your own fingerprint. Authentically recognizable sound is what gives Harp Mitch & Guitar Jakobs its own identity that brings about the energy and engaging live on stage.

With the new album “Blues bie’nSchemerlamp!”  Studio Session 2020-2021, they paint a blues path in which not only is a grasp of pure American blues history, but also a tribute to the most famous blues band that has put the Netherlands on the blues map, namely Cuby  & The Blizzards.

The well-known “Window of my Eyes” is presented in a special way as the closing of the album.

Forged  from friendship into one soul gives both gentlemen a very special energy that leads to a brotherhood for life.
