Whiskey,Women & Trouble is 10 solid tracks of blues/rock power that kicks off
with"Graveyard Blues,"a nasty, gritty tune about the race against time."Watch Yo Step" is about infidelity in a past relationship. "How Long"is a tasteful slow blues,Kurt's homage to Led Zeppelin. The title track, "Whiskey,Women & ouble,"spawned from a conversation with a friend in which they
were discussing each other's vices;it's a modern version of an old-school swing and
could be any random Tuesday night.
Then comes"Funkalicious,"a tune about Kurt's
love of Soulfood."Count on Me,"already a crowd favorite, is a throwback to old
school soul."Roadrunner"is a fast tune about constantly being on the road that will have you dancing, followed by"Cry Mercy,"a Nsew Orleans-style rumba about a brief romance."Voodoo Queen"is a swampy/funky groove-based song influenced by the story of Marie Laveau and a past girlfriend. The album closes out with the rockin' "Sweet T,"a feel-good tune that will have you grooving from the get-go. All 10 songs are original compositions by Kurt Allen. The album was recorded at Awestruck Studios in Kansas City,MO,and was produced by Kurt Allen and Larry Gann.
