European Blues Challenge 2020 geannuleerd

Keken we niet allemaal uit naar die opwindende strijd tussen de 25 beste blues-acts van Europa die op 17 en 18 april in Zaandam zou plaatsvinden? De vrijwilligers hadden extra geslapen en gezond gegeten om volledig fit het uiterste te kunnen geven voor een spectaculair programma. Er was zelfs een cruiseschip afgemeerd vlakbij het Zaantheater om de afstand tussen overnachten en optreden zo klein mogelijk te houden

Kinderen kregen les in de blues en het centrum van Zaandam sidderde van de bluesklanken. De 10e editie van de European Blues Challenge, samenvallend met de 10e verjaardag van de Dutch Blues Foundation (DBF), zou een zeker succes worden.

 Wat nu rest is de blues in het hart, ongedragen T-shirts en een nutteloos draaiboek.
 Na een zorgvuldige afweging zijn de DBF en de stichting Blues in Zaanstad (BiZ) tot de conclusie gekomen dat het ontvangen van de 10^e editie van de European Blues Challenge in 2020 een onwerkelijke droom is geworden. Zodoende is wat eerst werd uitgesteld nu een geannuleerd evenement.

 De DBF en BiZ zullen de European Blues Union voorstellen het evenement in de komende jaren alsnog te ontvangen. We nemen aan dat dit voorstel zal worden gehonoreerd, maar we zijn hierover nog niet in kennis gesteld.
 Zodra beslissingen genomen en locatie en data bevestigd zijn, zullen wij een nieuw communiqué uitbrengen.

European Blues Challenge 2020 cancelled
Were we not all looking forward to that exiting battle between the 25 top blues-acts of Europe
which would have taken place in Zaandam April 17 and 18? Volunteers had slept extra and eaten
healthy to be fit and do their utmost in offering a spectacular program. Even a cruiseship was
berthed next to the venue to make the distance between overnight stay and performance as small
as possible. Children would have been schooled in playing the blues and the centre of Zaandam
was vibrating with blues-notes. The 10th edition of the European Blues Challenge, coinciding with
the 10th anniversary of the Dutch Blues Foundation (DBF), was going to be a succes.
All that remains now is that bluesy feeling, unworn T-shirts and a useless scenario.
After careful deliberation the DBF and the Blues in Zaanstad Foundation (BiZ) have come to the
conclusion that hosting the 10th edition of the European Blues Challenge in 2020 (EBC2020) has
become an unrealistic dream. As such what was first declared postponed is now a cancelled event.
DBF and BiZ will propose to the European Blues Union (EBU) to host the event in the years to
come. We trust that she will honor this request, but we do not know the outcome as yet.
Information will be conveyed as soon as decisions are taken and location and dates are confirmed.
