The Toronto Blues Society is delighted to welcome two new faces on board. As the new Office Manager, Hüma Üster is
fresh out of Humber’s Arts Management Post-Graduate program and has
enjoyed placements at Small World Music and the Toronto Jazz Festival
during the past year. Having recently finished her first year in
Toronto, Hüma was working at the Media Relations department at Istanbul
Foundation for Culture and Arts.
Appointed as the part-time Project Manager, Amanda Rheaume
has been a self-managed singer/songwriter for 10+ years touring in
Canada, Europe, United Kingdom and the USA. She has experience in event
management through co-producing the National Babes4Breasts Benefit
Concert for 10 years. Amanda was also co-founder and owner of Light
Switch Creative Inc., a social media marketing and design agency in
Ottawa. Amanda has recently moved to Toronto.
Hüma and Amanda will share social and media relations duty, a
direction developed by the TBS through a three-year strategic planning
process. The TBS is unusual in North America as it represents blues with
programs and services "hitting above its weight" compared to other
genres and blues organizations worldwide.
"We are delighted to have found two highly talented
administrators to work for the Toronto Blues Society office in the next
phase of our local, national and international development.
We want to acknowledge our past staff Ivy Mairi, Jordan Safer
and Alice Sellwood who kept us on track for years. Alice Sellwood, in
particular, is a very promising arts worker who represents the future of
music industry and the new voices required to advance forward.” - Derek Andrews, President, Toronto Blues Society.
