Blues Blast magazine has announced the nominees for its 16th annual Blues Blast Music Awards. This year, thirteen Alligator artists received a total of 19 nominations. The Cash Box Kings and Rick Estrin & The Nightcats received four nominations including (for both) Blues Band Of The Year. Blues legend Charlie Musselwhite and multiple Grammy Award nominee Shemekia Copeland received three nominations.

DANNY BRYANT - nieuw album en single. Danny Bryant behoort al een tijdlang tot de UK’s meest gevierde bluesrock artiesten en op 29 september a.s. zal zijn nieuwe album “Rise” verschijnen via Jazzhaus Records. Zijn dertiende album inmiddels en het laat Bryant op zijn best horen.

Generations of BLUES

Eddie Taylor Sr, een meestergitarist en VeeJay-artiest, en zijn vrouw, zangeres Vera Taylor, waren leiders in de Great Migration-generatie die de blues van Mississippi naar de West Side van Chicago bracht in de jaren vijftig.  Vijf van hun acht kinderen groeiden op tot professionele musici. Uit de meedogenloze chaos van stedelijke armoede, geweld en raciaal onrecht in de thuisgemeenschap van de Taylors rijst de schoonheid van deze overlevingsmuziek op. De blues zit hen in het bloed
