Deze Canadese gitarist is pas 22 jaar oud en heeft nu al zijn derde album uitgebracht. Toen hij zestien jaar oud was verscheen zijn eerste, “Infected With The Blues”, waar ik toen zeer van onder de indruk was. Inmiddels zijn we zes jaar verder en heeft hij al wat prijzen in de wacht weten te slepen. Spencer heeft zich verder ontwikkeld en heeft in de afgelopen jaren flinke stappen weten te maken.

" The Revolution Will Not Be Televised " is een gedicht en lied van Gil Scott-Heron . Scott-Heron nam het voor het eerst op voor zijn album Small Talk at 125th en Lenox uit 1970 , waarop hij de teksten voordroeg, begeleid door conga's en bongo-drums . Een opnieuw opgenomen versie, met een volledige band, was de B-kant van Scott-Heron's eerste single, "Home Is Where the Hatred Is", van zijn album Pieces of a Man (1971). Het werd ook opgenomen op zijn compilatiealbum, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (1974). Al deze releases zijn uitgebracht op het platenlabel Flying Dutchman Productions .

 Op verzoek van een aantal liefhebbers heeft Wallace Coleman, begeleid door Hein “Little Boogie Boy” Meijer, in 2019 een akoestisch concert gegeven in Almelo, Nederland.

Het optreden werd opgenomen en straalde zoveel kwaliteit uit dat een uitbreiding van een aantal studio-opnames met Little Boogie Boy Blues Band voor de hand lag. Zo is het gebeurd.

Australian born , USA based, blues and roots artist Mitch Grainger releases a single entitled "Hollywood" digitally on August 26th.
The digital release includes two versions of the song, one recorded with Mitch Grainger's LA band and one solo acoustic version. It is the second of multiple singles scheduled for release over the next six months in lead up to the release of his new album entitled 'Plug It In'.

Elf jaar na zijn overlijden heeft Mark Carpentieri, producer en eigenaar van M.C. Records, nog wat oude opnamen van deze Mississippi bluesman gevonden, die niet eerder zijn uitgebracht. Big Jack Johnson werd op 30 juli 1940 geboren in Lambert, Mississippi. Als 13-jarige speelt hij voldoende gitaar om zich bij de band van zijn vader Ellis Johnson aan te sluiten. Hij maakt deel uit van de band van Frank Frost, met wie hij in  de zestiger en zeventiger jaren opnamen maakt. Pas in 1987 verschijnt Jacks eerste soloalbum en tot 2008 zullen er nog acht volgen.

Subterranean Street Society uit Amsterdam brengt een nieuw album uit. ‘Fado’ bestaat uit de originele akoestische versies van de liedjes die op het in februari 2022 verschenen succesalbum ‘Saudade’ staan. Deze oorspronkelijke, rudimentaire opnames dienden als blauwdruk voor de rijk georkestreerde uitvoeringen op ‘Saudade’. ‘Fado’ verschijnt 23 september op de streaming platforms en in een beperkte oplage op cassette, met ‘Fear Of Fond Farewells’ is nu alvast een eerste track beschikbaar. Het album wordt op 24 september gepresenteerd met een speciale show in de Vondelkerk in Amsterdam.
