Bluesmagazine’s weekly playlist is een gevarieerde lijst met aandacht voor de favoriete muziek van de luisteraars. Er is verder muziek met een link naar Bluesmagazine (releases, recensies, concert reviews) en daarna is de keuze gigantisch. De playlist is voor de luisteraar, naast het lezen van Bluesmagazine en ander Blues websites, een manier om nieuw artiesten en hun muziek te leren kennen.

During the shutdown of 2020, the recording studios in Los Angeles were closed for several months. For avid creators Bud and J.D., this was a time to start planning and writing for the day that the studios would open again and what sort of new songs would emerge. Over the course of the next year, The Boxmasters would record three new albums. A very personal album called “Nothing Personal” which is yet to be released, “Christmas In California” which was released in November of 2021 and “Help…I’m Alive” which is to be released on April 15th on Keentone Records/ Thirty Tigers.

Band Route61 bestaat uit vijf ervaren muzikanten met een jarenlange ervaring en hebben zich in korte tijd opgewerkt tot een veelgevraagde bluesband voor zowel kleine als grote podia.

Deze Nederlandse Blues/Rock band bestaat uit Steven de Bruijn (gitaar en zang), Rinus Vink (bas), Wim van Hamersveld (drums), Carolus van Kuilenburg (harmonica) en John de Groot(Vocals).

Met Pinksteren kunnen bezoekers van Ribs & Blues drie dagen lang gratis genieten van in totaal 24 internationale roots - en bluesacts. De laatste 3 namen zijn ook bekend.

De zeer getalenteerde Amerikaanse troubadour Ian Noe opent het festival op Pinksterzaterdag voor DeWolff en Danny Vera.

De laatste open plekken op eerste Pinksterdag worden bezet door Still Believe en Boogie Monster. Alle acts voor het Pinksterweekend zijn hiermee bevestigd.

De Amerikaanse zanger Malford Milligan staat donderdag 31 maart met zijn band The Southern Aces in De Tamboer. In zijn show I Was A Witness vertelt hij over het opgroeien als zwarte albino in een gesegregeerd Texas, waarbij hij zijn stem vond in de soul en blues. Kaarten zijn verkrijgbaar via detamboer.nl.

Malford Milligan

Door zijn krachtige, hese stem en zijn indrukwekkende voorkomen wordt Malford Milligan vaak vergeleken met soul iconen als Otis Redding en Al Green. In de jaren ’90 was de zanger de frontman van de ‘all-star band’ Storyville die hij samen met Double Trouble, de ritmesectie van Stevie Ray Vaughan, oprichtte. De zanger werd door de jaren heen maar liefst 8 keer bekroond tot beste vocalist bij de Austin Music Awards. En nu komt hij samen met The Southern Aces, bestaande uit Roel Spanjers, Fokke de Jong, Jack Hustinx, Roelof Klein en Eric van Dijsseldonk, naar Hoogeveen.

With Seasons, James contemplates the cycles of life and the human condition, as measured by nature’s own time clock.  These are not idle musings about mundane situations. Though he might use tiny brushstrokes to define minute details, James paints panoramas, not postcards. Starting with spring, it cycles through to winter via 12 songs of intimacy and delicate beauty. He even “revives the lost art of the shipwreck song” with “The Voyage Of The James Caird,” which Rolling Stone featured as a “Song You Need To Know,” adding, “[James’] records tend to be calm and ruminative, recalling the work of fellow modern balladeers like Nathaniel Rateliff (during his unplugged moments) and Phoebe Bridgers.”

Kids With Buns share the details and artwork of their debut EP 'waiting room'. The EP will be available on all streaming platforms and on very limited CD edition.

To celebrate this release with their closest fans, Kids With Buns will hold an exclusive release event at De Studio in Antwerp on 15 April 2022. It will be a cosy evening where we listen to the new EP together.
