De playlist is voor de luisteraar, naast het lezen van Bluesmagazine en andere Blues websites, een manier om nieuwe artiesten en hun muziek te leren kennen.Samenstelling: Jos Verhagen Afgelopen 06 Oktober  vond the Dutch Blues Challenge plaats in Tivoli Utrecht met vijf van de beste Nederlandse bluesbands. New Single: Saratoga

Eddie 9V heeft een nieuwe single uitgebracht genaamd “Saratoga” via Ruf Records. Het nummer is de eerste single van Eddie's aankomende album dat later dit jaar zal verschijnen.

“Saratoga is geschreven in een perfect westers landschap”, zegt Eddie. “We hadden een slechte dag onderweg en ik zat op een willekeurige Air B&B-veranda een riff te kiezen die ik onlangs had bedacht. Ik was al deze kleine teksten aan het schrijven terwijl ik uitkeek naar een enorm muilezelhert recht voor me dat gras en wortels at die ik naar hen gooide.

Met 5 nieuwe namen voor de Pinksterdagen en een extra surprise act op de zaterdagavond is het programma voor de 26e editie van Ribs & Blues in Raalte compleet!

In totaal spelen 24 acts op de beide podia tijdens het 3-daagse roots-en bluesfestival dat zoals altijd wordt gehouden op De Domineeskamp in het centrum van Raalte.

New Single: Eddie 9V - Chamber of Reflection

Eddie 9V brand new single, “Chamber of Reflection.”

About the track, Eddie said, “I was listening to “Chamber of Reflection” by Mac Demarco one day & I thought to myself, “what would a soul version of this sound like?” So, I just took the psychedelic synth & replaced it with horns. We had our horn player layer the melody & then we added Rhodes & Wurlitzer through a Leslie cabinet speaker. We ran some vocals through it, trying to capture that Allen Toussaint meets Mac DeMarco vibe.

Eddie spent his first quarter-century admiring the studio and the bands that blew through it from afar. But in December 2021, the 26-year-old finally put his thumbprint on the studio's mythology, corralling an eleven-strong group of the American South's best roots musicians to track his third album.

The album is named after Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia and is known for having recordings with the Allman Brothers Band and Otis Redding. 

 “Coming off a straight blues record, I wanted to show people we’re more than that,” says Eddie. “I was listening to Muscle Shoals and soul, a lot of music recorded at Capricorn in the late ’60s too. So we spent way more time crafting the new tunes. Each song took a week to write, instead of five  in one night” The first single, “Yella Alligator” has been released.

Nog maar pas 24 jaar oud en Eddie 9V wordt al een oude ziel genoemd. Niet vreemd als je hem beluisterd met zijn aan Freddie King en Otis Rush herinnerende gitaarstijl en aan de teksten, die een ruime levenservaring etaleren. Op zijn vijftiende verliet hij zijn school en was voornamelijk in de clubs van zijn woonplaats Atlanta te vinden.
