Montoya's carrière begon in het midden van de jaren 70 toen Albert Collins hem vroeg om bij zijn band te komen als drummer. Collins nam Montoya onder zijn hoede en leerde hem zijn "ijzige hete" linkshandige gitaarstijl. De twee bleven vrienden, zelfs nadat Montoya de band van Collins verliet.

Coco heeft erkenning gekregen als een van de meest opwindende en welsprekende blues-rockgitaristen ter wereld. In een carrière die zich bijna vier decennia uitstrekt, is hij van drummen voor bluesicoon Albert Collins naar het houden van de hoofdgitaarspot in Bluesbreakers van John Mayall naar het leiden van zijn eigen band en headliner over de hele wereld.

BijRipperda wordt deze avond omgetoverd tot een waar festivalterrein met twee podia.

Stichting Culemborg Blues maakt de laatste namen bekend voor de beide hoofdpodia.
