Acclaimed Dutch musician, multi-instrumentalist, music therapist, and lecturer Harry Kappen is excited to announce the release of his fourth solo album, Four (MTS), scheduled to hit digital platforms on February 28, 2025. Following the success of his previous albums Pictures, Escape, and Time Will Tell, Four marks another bold artistic step for Kappen as he delves into themes of love, courage, desire, memory, and the pursuit of living fully—even in turbulent times.

Four is a collection of 10 deeply personal songs that capture the myriad emotions and challenges of modern life, all seen through the lens of Kappen’s profound love for his wife and his own transformative journey. Musically, the album is as eclectic as it is emotionally resonant—seamlessly blending guitar-driven rock, sensitive jazzy ballads, and vibrant Latin influences. Each track carries its own story:

The Longing – A dynamic rock opener about the timeless struggle between head and heart, ultimately celebrating the triumph of emotion.

Be Brave if You Can – A reflective semi-ballad that confronts life’s uncertainties and the looming specter of conflict, encouraging bravery without judgment.

Courage – A tender love song inspired by Kappen’s Mexican wife and his impending move across the Atlantic, melding western underground pop with jazzy, Latin rhythms. This track, featuring the evocative line “And the eagle spreads its wings,” sets the tone for the album and was released as a single on February 14, 2025.

Forever Young – A nostalgic pop number that captures the essence of youthful memories from his teenage years in the north of the Netherlands.

Break These Chains – A rock anthem charged with contemporary relevance, critiquing the misuse of opinions as facts in today’s climate of misinformation.

In Every Sigh and Rhyme – A pop-jazz standard paying tribute to the lifelong musical bond between Kappen and his sister.

I’ll Die for You – A catchy pop love song, set against the rustic backdrop of a barn where banjo melodies and heartfelt shelter intertwine.

Chasing Rabbits – A pop-country tune featuring slide guitar, this track questions whether bold change requires both bravery and a touch of madness.

The Choices We’ve Made – A positive rock song that celebrates embracing the present, with the stirring declaration: “In the heart of the chaos I am learning to dance.”

Beyond his work as a musician, Harry Kappen is a dedicated music therapist in youth care and a lecturer on a master’s degree program in music therapy. His unique perspective—shaped by his experiences working with adolescents and their families, as well as his own life journey—infuses his music with authentic emotional depth. Influenced by musical icons such as Paul McCartney, Prince, David Bowie, Radiohead, and Knower, Kappen’s work defies genre boundaries while staying true to a distinctive personal sound.
