Hi-octane, neon-clad rockers The Hot Damn! are back with a bang, launching their electrifying new single Can You Hear Me Now? today, Friday, August 23rd. This release comes hot on the heels of the announcement of their highly anticipated debut album Dancing on the Milky Way, set to drop on Friday, September 27th, 2024, via Fat Earth Records.
Based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, The Hot Damn! are not just turning heads with their music but also raising awareness for an issue close to their hearts—hearing protection. Recognizing the vital importance of hearing health for both audiences and musicians, the band has pledged to provide disposable earplugs at all their shows.
Guitarist Laurie Buchanan emphasizes the importance of ear protection:
"Since I was a kid, it’s been drilled into me—EARPLUGS are a MUST! Whether it’s sound check, rehearsal, or the real deal, protecting your ears is non-negotiable, especially for us musicians! No one wants to be the one who can’t tune by ear anymore (bad tone alert!). That’s why we at The Hot Damn! are teaming up with Help Musicians to spread the word about their hearing protection scheme, and we’re making sure we’ve always got free earplugs available for punters at our shows too! Whether it’s shielding your ears from nasty frequencies—or just from our music—we’ve got you covered.”
Drummer Josie O’Toole adds:
"Yeah, we like it LOUD, but we're in this for the long haul and hope to continue to enjoy music 'til we're old and crusty! I know many people don't care about hearing health until it's too late... I certainly didn't until I started getting some early warning signs. Losing the ability to enjoy music would be a very sad thing indeed, so we're trying to do our bit to make sure that the party lasts for everyone, for many years to come! COME TO A HOT DAMN! SHOW! Can You Hear Me Now? marks the final single release leading up to the debut album, and the band couldn’t be more excited. Vocalist Gill Montgomery shares her anticipation:
"We are so excited to finally get this release out – not long now, just a month to go until a pop-rock explosion! Haven’t heard enough bangers yet?? Get ready for the ultimate ear snack comin’ in hot… just the way we like it. ‘Can you hear me now?’ is our latest, maybe greatest, party choon yet—a big F*CK you to all our loser exes, haters, and the hard times. To celebrate the release of Can You Hear Me Now?, The Hot Damn! is offering a special earplug bundle with a cassette of the album including the new single, embodying the Can You Hear Me Now? nostalgic vibes: “Punch restart and play, Get up off the floor, It’s not the 90s anymore…”
