"Rock for a Heart" is one of the first songs we wrote collectively as a band while on a writing retreat in Nashville. Prior to our writing retreats, our music was written by an individual writer and brought to the band. During this retreat Allen and Jeff reflected how oftentimes boys grow up to be men with rock hard hearts, and how they could use help to soften their hearts.
The music was written by all of us together, and Jeff took a crack at the lyrics... then later as we worked through the arrangement, we felt that the song needed something, perhaps a bridge, and Dave came up with "chipped away the stone" - and the magic was then complete!"
