Julie Grant - I Am Not Her - New Single
Thoroughbredmusic is delighted to announce the release of the excellent first single ‘I Am Not Her’ by Julie Grant, impacting now, from the forthcoming album ‘Perimeter Girl’.
Julie Grant has a great CV, supporting the Cranberries in the nineties as well as Robyn Hitchcock. As well as playing with members of the Housemartins.
She also went on a National UK tour under the banner “We Are Not A Manchester Band” in the heyday of the Stone Roses/Oasis/Inspiral Carpets era. They got the joke in Manchester and loved it!
Julie has played at The Mean Fiddler Acoustic Rooms in London on the same bill as Desmond Dekker, headlined at London’s Marquee Club, Rock Garden and Water Rats, and performed and was interviewed on breakfast television. She also performed live on Tyne-Tees television’s East Coast Mainline music show.
Several live sessions were recorded for BBC Radio which received daytime airplay. The late, great Janice Long, was a massive fan and regularly played Julie’s music on her radio shows.
Julie was the first artist to do an acoustic set in Our Price Records (formerly Virgin Records) before it became fashionable! She left music in the late nineties, went to RADA. Worked in theatre and then at BBC EastEnders. She also had her own page on the official website. Julie left the BBC and adopted rescue Greyhounds and became involved in helping to rehome them.
Recently Julie decided to return to Music due to “popular demand” from fans who kept asking where I had gone! She has put a strong line-up together which can offer acoustic or full band performances.
Julie says: I don’t write love songs. My tracks are autobiographical and cover various subjects. I’m not just a singer I can play drums, bass, and guitar. However, I do not play any instruments on the recordings! All lyrics are mine. She is also a writer, currently penning my autobiography titled: Perimeter Girl. Julie is a vegan, likes film noir and kitchen sink dramas.
